Can you check my Orbi logs? Keeps restarting or dropping wifi or something weird..

Hey

Below this post, I'll paste the logs. It may reveal something, it may not. But it's all foreign to me so thought I'd put it here just in case.

The problem is that we seem at random, to lose connection to the Satellite. Sometimes we are in bed and my GF's phone and laptop just drops wifi. I might be connected still. She will be prompted to put in the password and it'll say "incorrect password". Even when I share the password via iPhones it rejects it. We are only one room away from the satellite at this point. Today it happened to her, and she walked into my office where the satellite is and she connected fine, which points to a reception problem.

Anyway, today in my office my iMac keeps dropping connection. I am 2 feet from the Satletlite so it can't be a reception issue. My internet seems to be running extremely sluggish for a few hours now from the Mac. And sometimes it seems to lose wifi altogether, and then join at 1 bar (which I reckon means it joined the main router downstairs) before suddenly jumping to full bars. This makes me think the satellite rebooted itself (although it only drops for like 10 seconds, whilst a reboot would take a couple of minutes)

By the way, I have fibre broadband and my satellite is correctly set up to be wired. So things should be solid. I tried changing the channel from auto to 7 today but no joy.

Anyway... bottom line is, things are very sketchy and attached are the logs.... any help pleasssssse?

The attached picture just shows the text of what you just posted here. Not much to go on here.

What orbi model system do you have?

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure to disable any MAC Address randomizers on phones and pads while at home:

Sorry that was dumb, attached a better screenshot now...

I have the RB850's 1x router 1x satalite

Firmware: V4.6.14.3_2.3.12

I dont think the modem is the problem because

1. The wired connections are all fine and serve a constant 500mb download

2. The connections downstairs (even wireless ones) dont seem to have a problem.

To add to this, i have just connected my Mac via wire to the satellite and my connection is now rock solid. When I sit and watch the Wifi in the network settings though, it keeps disconnecting every few minutes. So the satellite deffo isnt rebooting itself at least

Is the front LED on the RBR turning PINK when this happens?

I'm seeing lots of Internet Connected messages with in a short period of time. RBR maybe having problems with the ISP Modem or services here.

What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and 📡 satellite(s)? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR📡 and RBS🛰️ to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.

Does this happen with both wireless and wired devices?
What channel configurations are currently set on the router?
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?

Re: Can you check my Orbi logs? Keeps restarting or dropping wifi or something weird..

I dont think it is an RBR issue because as I said, the internet is fine downstairs (where the RBR is)

And also it is great everywhere when connected via wire. For example, I tried my iMac via wire into the problem satellite and the internet was flawless. It's only a wireless via satellite problem.

I changed channels yesterday from 11 to 1. And today the wireless isn't cutting out, but it is still slow. I get about 100MB, bad ping. Im sat 2 feet from the satellite so should be getting closer to 3-500mb

We have 6 neighbours that I can see via wireless connections. I know where I am has a lot of 'satellite' internet - via big ariels on their roofs. Because the residents around here don't know any better and just have that installed even though we all have fibre to the property available.... not sure if satellite internet could be a real demon to wireless noise.

Still would need feeback on the questions presented please.

Have you tried swapping the RBS around to see if the problem follows?

Re: Can you check my Orbi logs? Keeps restarting or dropping wifi or something weird..

That would be an interesting thing to try... but i don't think its possible since the internet comes into the house downstairs, goes into the router which has an ethernet cable plugged in, leading upstairs into a switch which provides ethernet sockets to every room (the satellite is plugged into one of those sockets)

However, this question did lead me to doing a very simple test. Using my phone I did speed tests next to my satellite, then did the same by the router.

By the satellite i tried it multiple times - the speedometer always felt glitchy (which i know, people say isn't a concern, but I personally don't like it. Whenever I'm in a solid connection, it never glitches).

Either way, by the satalite my tests came back with a jumping needle, some starting around a few MB, then jumping to 40 or 50. Some tests gave me up too 300mb. But on average, I was getting about 100mb.

Went downstairs to the router, and the same test gave me an immediate and solid 500mb+ with no 'glitching'.

I know for a fact that the satellite is receiving a good wired connection, because as I've said, when i plug my imac into it, its perfect.

So it almost certainly has something to do with the wifi of the satellite - or its positioning. Although it is pretty much alone on a side table. Attached is a picture.

Beyond this being a faulty satellite, any ideas? (urgh, just doing a speed test now next to the satellite and getting a solid, smooth 500-600mb) this is so inconsistent - although perhaps that helps diagnose it...
