Please navigate to the link below for step-by-step instructions on how to update your Orbi model system::

https://kb.netgear.com/000037217/How-do-I-check-and-manually-upgrade-the-firmware-on-my-Orbi-satelli...

Be sure to update the RBS FIRST, then the RBR lastly.

I HIGHLY recommend after the FW is loaded on the system and it's back to ready, power OFF all Orbi units and the ISP modem/ONT for 1 minute. Then back ON with the ISP modem/ONT first, then RBR then RBS.

The best advise we can give people is to start a new config, power on one RBS and wait for some SOLID light or most often blue or magenta. And then add the RBS WIRELESSLY via the WebUI. Power off the RBS. Then rinse and repeat with any additional RBS(s). Pair RBS one at a time even if you have more than one. For ethernet connected RBS, after things come up wirelessly, you can move to wired backhaul but don't start with wired backhaul for those RBS that are ethernet connected. Wirelessly connect and sync RBS first before ethernet connecting RBS.

NOTE: Orbi app or the routers web page may not report seeing new FW updates. NG may not push this to there auto update services immediately and may activate the newer FW update being seen on there auto update services at a later time. User will have the choice to manually update if you want too.

NOTE: The Disable Auto Update feature only prevents ANY new FW from being installed if available. This does NOT prevent the system from checking NG services to see if new FW is available. If new FW is available, this will be displayed as a notification to the user on the RBRs web page only. It will be up to the user to upgrade FW or not.

A factory reset maybe needed if problems are encountered after the FW update:

https://kb.netgear.com/31486/How-do-I-reset-my-Orbi-system-to-factory-default-settings

NOTE: Recommend setting the default DHCP IP address pool range to the following after applying and a factory reset: 192.168.#.100 to 192.168.#.200

It will be interesting to see if this firmware fixes the issue I discovered in regards to the 2.4GHz band, knocking out both the 5GHz and 6GHz bands.

See below posts for more info.

I updated my 960 right away yesterday and it's been rock solid.  Course, it was rock solid before, so your mileage may vary.  Oh, actually one issue, my Android Orbi app (verified updated) will no longer connect to the RBR960.  I just get a white screen when I start it up.  Uninstalled and reinstalled, same issue.  Perhaps it's an app issue and not related to the firmware update, but it certainly worked before the new firmware.

How was your system updated? Via AutoUpdate, Manually or Update ALL?

Did you update and continue to use the system after it rebooted or was there a power cycle of the system OFF for 1 minute then back ON or did you do a factory reset and setup from scratch?

Is your RBS wirelessly connected or ethernet connected?

Just updated 960 router and two satellites. Didn’t do anything special, just one satellite at a time and then the router. So far, looks good.

BYW, I can’t find the thread on Reddit, or I would post there, too.

Power cycled RBR and RBSs, and then I realized that I'm not using the WiFi on these devices, I'm just using them for backhaul.  Disabled my phone WiFi which made the app try anywhere connect (which I don't allow), and then once it was on that screen I turned the phone WiFi back on and it worked.  A little workaround since I use these devices in a non-standard way.

Second the Orbi app not connecting. Saying my Orbi is offline, as I type this online. Go figure.

Finally got my 854 system updated yesterday. After doing the FW update, Power cycle and a factory reset and setup from scratch, took a good hour to complete and get it finally configured in a staged area and ready to go live on the home network. Will hopefully get a chance to get it online this week, I hope. Fingers 🤞

OK 850 series went online today at 4PM. ALL RBS are online and functioning.

Orbi app is working. Speed test as well.

Will let it run for a few days and observe.

On my 960s there are no hiccups with the latest firmware. Much appreciated. And the Orbi app, oy vey! Some days it works and some days it does not.

So far, so good. Seems like a few 2.4 devices are a bit finiky to connect quickly... will keep an eye out.

Also, digging the new icons!

Well, I reverted back to V7.2.6.31_5.0.24. Odd connection issues with the satellite and when I downgraded the firmware of the satellite first it would auto update back to 7.2.7.15 within a minute or two. Definitely some major bugs.

Which orbi model system do you have?

I'd give a factory reset and setup from scratch after v.15 is applied. If your seeing issues, a FR would be needed to help check this. Not a major issue if you don't check this a bit more.

Mines been online since the other day. FW was applied, power cycled, the FR and setup from scratch with 3 RBS wirelessly connected. Not seeing any issues at the RBS. I have a R7960P in wireless bridge mode connected to on of the RBS. I was watching TV with my DISH Joey connected ethernet to the R7960P just fine yesterday.

So interesting that after upgrading to .15 that some people have issues and others do not.  I updated my firmware on 2 RBS and the RBR, power cycled each one, and it's been rock solid since.  I'm in AP mode with a Ubiquiti gateway managing clients and other services.

The Orbi app is crap. It shows my laptop as blocked even when I am online with the laptop , either wired directly to the router, or on WiFi. It shows properly on the web interface.

Something to post over in the Orbi app section of the forums.

I have the RBK852, seems like the ipv6 issue is causing my problems. Drops ipv6 in 4 to 5 hours and then some of my cameras no longer want to connect. Tried all the usual reset and reboot tactics and nothing changed. Reverted to V7.2.6.31_5.0.24. and everything is back to fine. v7.2.7.15 100% introduced the ipv6 bug that has plagued other users in the past which is well documented with older firmwares. Disappointed to say the least, was hoping to run the latest version of firmware.

Whos the ISP your connecting with?

What is the brand and model# of the ISP modem/ONT the RBR is connected too?

How is IPv6 configured on the RBR? DHCP, Auto, Static?

Are you using ISP IPv6 DNS or a custom DNS?

How was the system updated? Auto update or manually?

Has a power off for 1 minute then back ON with the ISP modem and router and satellites been performed since last update?

Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update? This would be to be performed to help check for IPv6 issues.

I manually loaded my system, power cycled and then factory reset and setup from scratch. This FW cleared a bad LED behavior on one of my RBS.

I have Cox and a Nokia ONT. Manual updated firmware. IPv6 is set to DHCP using their DNS just like before, I changed nothing as far as settings. Only thing I did not try is a reset of the entire system. Too much of an issue to set up from scratch. I did try everything as far as reboots, power cycle and disconnect the ONT for over a minute. All previous firmwares worked flawlessly with IPv6 so I am certain it was introduced in the latest version, as least for me.

Can you try using some custom IPv6 DNS? Like Cloudfare or Quad9? Next time you have v.15 loaded and a factory reset can be performed with v.15 loaded.

Would need model# of ONT as well.

Nokia ONT G-010G-A. The model shouldn't make a difference.

I've done all the troubleshooting steps I can or care to do. Mother in law on a pacemaker, can't keep taking my network down.

This thread describes the issue so I will let Netgear figure it out. Their buggy firmware releases are getting tiresome.
