Orbi AX1800 WiFi 6 Dual-band Mesh Router and MacBook and iMac performance
I'm sorry if this subject has been covered in the past but the number of threads and a lack of search (I couldn't see one anyway) leads me to ask this question.
I have had the above Mesh Network for over two years and it has been really great overall but I get really poor connectivity using either my iMac or MacBook Air. The speed is typically around 60MB across the network but these two machines get throttled down in use sometimes as low as 2-3MB.
It isn't all the time but it has gotten worse. I really don't remember having an issue when I first installed the network but it may have throttled down a little but I didn't notice. I have owned the iMac throughout this period but have had two MacBook Airs first the M1 and now the M2.
Is this a common problem? Is there a solution?

Re: Orbi AX1800 WiFi 6 Dual-band Mesh Router and MacBook and iMac performance
1. what actual model system do you have? AX1800 is a speed
2. what firmware is on the router and on the satellites?
3. what modem/gateway is the router connected to?
4. Those are the only devices with issues?
5. Are they connected to the 2.4ghz band or the 5ghz band?

Try powering off the satellites and test the speed directly from the router.

Re: Orbi AX1800 WiFi 6 Dual-band Mesh Router and MacBook and iMac performance
I turned off the satellites and the results nearby the primary were just as poor.
BTW the modem is technicolor TG588v v2.
I connected to the WiFi on the modem and the results were no better and erratic, which is why I went with mesh.
Interestingly, I downloaded the Ookla SPEEDTEST Mac OS app on both devices and speeds were showing back up to 55MB but this was not reflected in page load speeds. The SPEEDTEST web page measure was just as poor. I don't know what this signifies...

technicolor is a modem/router combo device.
has it been placed in modem only mode or the netgears IP address put into its dmz.

Ok. I’ll try and get access to the admin area again. Thank you for your guidance. I’ll come back if I get the access sorted.
