BRS_wanlan_conflict.html issue

I have a BRS_wanlan_conflict.html issue on some sites including the Orbi web based admin page. So the following is recommended but does not work:

Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router.

Unfortunately:

1. AT&T no longer supports transparent bridge.

2. Turned off the all wifi radios on modem. Setting DMZ/ExpoosedHost or IP Pass-Through will cause both systems to crash and you will need to do a hard reset. I confirmed with AT&T they do not really support this anymore.

3. You cannot access the routers web based page since it will give you the very error you are trying to fix in the first place.

 

admin and password do not work when the orbilogin.com redirects to http://orbilogin.com/BRS_wanlan_conflict.html and brings up a user name password prompt. http://192.168.1.1 or http://10.0.0.1 gives the same result.

 

Is there an actual solution for users with AT&T?

What is the model# of the modem? Try a different modem by chance if DMZ is causing the modem and Orbi to crash. 

 

I would configure the Orbi for AP mode.

I am using the Orbi RBR50 with the AT&T modem which I must use with the service. I cannot use another modem.

Try AP mode then. Should work. A reset on the RBR maybe needed. I would manually configure the RBR with it disconnected from the modem first. Set a new IP address, 192.168.1.50 on the RBR for AP mode so you will always access the RBRs web page at this address. Set your modems default IP address range to 192.168.1.100 to .200. Save all settings then reboot the RBR and connect the WAN port to the back of the modem.

Factory reset the RBR with a wired PC connected to the RBR while the RBR is disconnected from the modem.

Press the back reset button for 15 seconds then release. 

 

You should be able to access the RBRs web page at 192.168.1.1. Walk thru the setup for select manual configuration. Once your on the home page, go in and set AP mode on the RBR. Select Static IP address for the RBR for AP mode. Set 192.168.1.50. 1 being the same number as what the modem uses. If its' different, please change this 3rd number to the same as what the modem uses. Use same subnet mask as modem and use the modems IP addresss for the gateway, maybe 192.168.1.1. For DNS you can use your ISPs DNS or custom, like 1.1.1.1 and 9.9.9.9 or something you like to use. Apply the setting. The RBR will reboot. When this happens connect the RBRs WAN port the modems LAN port.

If you can't administrate your Orbi anymore then the last fallback is to factory reset it start over: https://kb.netgear.com/31486/How-do-I-reset-my-Orbi-system-to-factory-default-settings.  Configure your Orbi this time in AP mode.

I have never been able to access the webpage with that method. I had one before and the Netgear support could not get it to do it either. They sent me a new Orbi (the previous one did not work at all). I cannot connect to the web interface at all ever with a factory reset. I attempted to do it on the initial set up.

I have never been able to admister my Orbi. Only the app for set up works. I need to know how to set in AP mode without the web interface or figure out how to get the web interface to work.

Do you have a different PC to test with? IF you can't access two different RBRs then something maybe with the PC your using or web browser. 

Be sure your PCs networking is set for automatic IP addressing and you dont' have any static IPs on the PC. 

Be sure to use a good quality LAN cable. CAT6 is recomended between the RBR and PC. 

 

Clear ALL browser caches. 

Try a different broswer, IE11, Firefox or Opera.

I used a laptop, desktop and chrome, IE, and Firefox.

After you reset the RBR and connect either PC, does the network adapter report getting an IP address from the RBR? 192.168.1.something?

 

How long are you pressing the reset button for? 15 seconds is max press time then release.

No nothing. But the router generally works except for the double NAT thing which is why I am even trying to do this. Otherwise I would use let it be.

No I think I did not understand what you were saying. The internet is functional. The router and modem are working. The PCs are getting IPs. I just get BRS_wanlan_conflict.html on a few sites and for the Netgear log in. I just need to find out an alternate way of changing the config to AP without the web interface or some other work around to fix the problem.

You have to use the web page to change the mode to AP from router. 

 

Sounds like something the RBR is in some bad state if you can't access the RBRs web page or some cookie in your browsers is stuck

Sounds like something isn't correctly configured on the RBR or between the RBR and the ISP modem.

I talked to AT&T support and they indicated that the Orbi mesh network is incompatible with AT&T Uverse. So there is no real resolution at this time. I am frustrated with both Netgear and AT&T.

That doesn't seem accurate.  Other users here have AT&T Uverse working with their Orbi.  This is another community thread of someone who had the same BRS_wanlan_conflict error as you but was successful in reconfiguring their Orbi in AP mode: https://community.netgear.com/t5/Orbi/BRS-wanlan-conflict-html-with-orbi-and-connecting-to-webpages/...

 

We should be able to help you configure your Orbi into AP mode, using a computer and browser, and after a factory reset.  Something we don't understand is causing these BRS_wanlan_conflict errors from a browser during the Orbi setup.  Have you tried using your phone's browser instead?

 

Alternatively, after a factory reset I'm guessing the Orbi app should also be able to setup into AP mode.  You might get better instructions in the Orbi app community forum on how to do this.

I was searching around and it may not be possible to use the Orbi app after a factory reset to setup in AP mode.  However, I did find this old post from someone trying to do the same thing and setup in AP mode while not being able to use a browser (and also with AT&T Uverse!).

 

The suggestion is to factory reset, then configure your Orbi using a web browser while NOT CONNECTED to your AT&T modem: https://community.netgear.com/t5/Orbi/Help-changing-Orbi-to-AP/m-p/1710706#M53248 .  By not connecting to your modem you avoid whatever problem is causing BRS_wan_conflict, allowing you to configure your Orbi into AP mode.

The method you linked to is not longer supported by AT&T. It will end up with a factory reset on the modem. I would like some more information about the dumb switch method though.
