RBS50 connecting to guest network after reset

Hi, I've always run ethernet straight to this satellite, but at some point I realized my connection was unstable and saw that it was connected to the 2.4ghz guest network as opposed to the primary 5ghz. I've removed the satellite from attached devices, pinhole reset, but it keeps coming back as the same satellite name I previously set-- on top of that, after the re-sync, it still shows it connected to the guest network name in Windows. Please advise, thanks! Appreciate the help. Super frustrating. I don't know how else I can force this satellite to connect to the primary network since it's on ethernet only.

Re: RBS50 connecting to guest network after reset

Hi MaryRivera,

I understand that your RBS50 connects to the guest portion of your network when connected through ethernet. This issue can be caused by having two active DHCP servers running at the same time. This issue can be resolved by disabling your RBR50's DHCP server and then disconnecting and reconnecting the RBS50.

To turn off the  DHCP server for your Orbi follow the instructions below:

  • Enter orbilogin.com
  • Enter the admin user name and password.
  • On the BASIC Home page: Select ADVANCED > Setup > LAN Setup.
  • Uncheck the Use Router as DHCP Server check box.

Let me know your progress on this issue!!

Best,

Kevin

Re: Help with satellite RBR50 connecting to guest network.

Can you post a screen shot that shows how the satellite is connected?

On my Orbi, the Attached Devices page shows satellites at the top.

When connected over WiFi, it shows frequency band, but does not indicate primary/guest.
