Will the RBR20 / RBS20 pass through vlan tagging via wired backhaul path in AP mode?
So I have a wired router with vlans set up which connects to a managed switch. Into the managed switch I have my Orbi RBR20 connected in AP mode and then backhaul ethernet connected to the other side of the house to an Orbi RBS20. Everything works great, but I do have a smart TV connected to the second ethernet port of the RBS20. If I were to add a simple 5 port managed switch to the second ethernet port of the RBS20 would the ORBI work nicely with passing through vlan tags to this managed switch so I could put the smart TV on a seperate vlan?

Re: Will the RBR20 / RBS20 pass through vlan tagging via wired backhaul path in AP mode?
Yes, in theory, adding a simple 5-port managed switch to the second Ethernet port of the RBS20 should allow VLAN tagging to work smoothly, enabling you to segregate the smart TV onto a separate VLAN. However, it's essential to ensure that the managed switch supports VLAN tagging and can properly interpret the VLAN tags passed from the Orbi system. Additionally, you'll need to configure the managed switch to recognize and handle the VLAN tags accordingly. As long as these conditions are met, you should be able to achieve the desired network segmentation for your smart TV.

Try a non managed switch behind the RBS. GS105/108 or GS308 would work nicely. Since you only have one managed switch using VLAN configs, you'd only need a non managed switch here.

Re: Will the RBR20 / RBS20 pass through vlan tagging via wired backhaul path in AP mode?
The Orbi RBR20/RBS20 system Ethernet ports do not support VLAN tagging. (or any sort of VLAN).
My (limited) understanding of VLAN technology is that once data packets arrive at any device that does not support VLAN tags, the tags are lost. Maybe the packets even disappear??
I'd give this zero chance of working.
