a device always gets connected to the main ORBI router

I have a device that always gets connected to the main ORBI router, although the satellite is very near to it.

Is there any solution for this? So that I can assign it to get connected to the ORBI satellite first?

I have the same issue with 2 devices. An Alexa and a ring doorbell, both always connect to the main router that’s far while ignoring the sat right beside them. I have found my phone will connect to the satellite...

The orbi itself dynamically moves devices around as needed. Is it causing an issue or is it functioning as it should?

One thing to check is distance. The orbi's require at least 30ft between them for the switching function to run as it should. Are they that far apart?

What channels are you using? Auto? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and any unused channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?

Try enabling Beamforming and MIMO(MIMO may or maynot be needed) and WMM. Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings

Try disabling the following and see:
Armor, Circle, Daisy Chain, Fast Roaming, IPv6 and Set 20/40Mhz Coexistence to 40Mhz only. Save settings and reboot the router and satellite(s).

My satellite was only about 19 feet from the router, moving it now
Should I have beamforming on?
Is there a downside to it?

The distance is about20 ft apart.

And yes, Some device performance reduces when they are connected to the Main ORBI, with law signal

20 feet is too close. WIfi over lap maybe too much. 30 Feet starting with the RBS from the RBR.

Beamforming is good to have enabled.

Ok moving the Satellite helped some I’ve noticed the ring doorbell using the Satellite for connection.
I think I’ll try turning on beam forming

The satellite device is already given poor signal between it and the main Orbi router.

Moving it further will reduce the signal and therefore the performance

Whats the current distance between the RBR and RBS? 

Any building materials in between the RBR and RBS?

The distance is about 20 feet.
The ORBI Router is in the next room to the room where the satellite is.
There is an open door between both too.

20 ft is to close for them to function properly. If you're that close and have a poor signal between the units, either something in your building materials (hvac, plaster lathe, concrete, brick, adobe do a great job at stopping wifi signals) is blocking the signal or one of your units is bad. I usually lean toward it being a building materials issues just because its one of the most frequently seen issues. I know you put there's an open door between them but unless they're line of sight, the walls can still be blocking the signals.

Also lead based paint can cause problems as well. 

Older homes 70's era and older may still have lead based paint in the walls, though maybe covered over my other new layers of paint. Still could cause problems for wifi signals.

If someone still has lead based paint in the contruction of their home, they have bigger problems than loss of wifi signal.

Beamforming seemed To make the ring door bell open slower
