RBE770 & RBE771 - satellite stops providing connection
I have the RBE770 Router with one RBE771 satellite (placed around 30 feet away, up one floor) in a standard 4-bed house.
Regularly (sometimes multiple times per day) the satellite simply stops working and devices default to connecting back to the router (if they can reach). The satellite is still powered on but seems to not be giving/receiving signals - confirmed by using WiFi Explorer on multiple computers which show the connections to that satellite have just disappeared.
The strength of connection to the router from where the satellite is positioned is around 50%-60% so should be more than enough to retain connection...?
I've tried resetting everything back to factory settings and starting from scratch, but that has not helped. Every time this happens I have to unplug the satellite, and turn back on. The connection then re-establishes for a while until the next drop off (which could be an hour or a few days).
My router is wired straight into the wall (there's no modem in my setup). My internet speed to the house is around 900MB. I'm running firmware V10.5.13.1 on both devices and have had the problem since purchase, a few months ago.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received!!

Re: RBE770 & RBE771 - satellite stops providing connection
A couple things to try.
1. move the satellite. Even though you stated those strength testings, things in walls, metal appliances, or other devices could cause interference. Sometimes a lateral move can help just as much as moving closer to get objects out of blocking the signal.
2. is the 240hz backhaul MLO enabled? (under advanced settings/wireless settings through the browser).
3. when it drops, what does the status page show under the orbi through the GUI for the satellite?

Re: RBE770 & RBE771 - satellite stops providing connection
This tends to happen about once per week for me. I’d contact support. It’s been frustrating, but I think they finally at least understand what the problem is. I’m currently waiting for it to happen again to gather some logs for them.

Re: RBE770 & RBE771 - satellite stops providing connection
I have similar issue. RBE771 router with 2 RBE770 satellites. 3 floor house, 1 device on each floor, 1 satellite is wired the other is wireless. It all works fine for some number of days then one day the wireless satellite is no longer connected to the router. No coloured lights, nothing so it looks fine. Also , I can access both satellites admin page which look normal but the router shows it has lost connection to the satellite and no devices are connected to that satellite. Firmware is latest available. If I reboot it all goes working again and then this all repeats after x days. I have owned many Netgear Orbi models since the early days and this is the only one that acts this way and I am very disappointed given its extremely high price.

Re: RBE770 & RBE771 - satellite stops providing connection
When you connect to the satellite web page, does it show any devices connected to the satellite?
(This is quite a puzzle because a satellite that is not connected to the router should not be reachable through the network.)

Re: RBE770 & RBE771 - satellite stops providing connection
Agreed doesn't make sense. No devices are showing connected to that satellite and yet the admin is still reachable and it shows as connected. The attached devices page of the router shows it as disconnected.

Re: RBE770 & RBE771 - satellite stops providing connection
What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6A STP is recommended.
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router 📡 and satellite(s)🛰️? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR 📡 and RBS 🛰️ to begin with depending upon building materials when wired or wirelessly connected.

I recommend reaching out to NG support and ask about a beta FW that maybe available to you to try out.

Re: RBE770 & RBE771 - satellite stops providing connection
V10.5.13.1_2.2.34
All high quality cabling here. Distance is within grange and exact same location as previous Orbi 850 series with 2 sats I had prior to buying these. Oddly some devices were actually still connected via the satellite and were working even though the router reports the sat as disconnected.
I have tried so-called Netgear support before and they struggle to understand what I am talking about and suggest steps a six year old might suggest. Like are the lights on in your house? Is it raining? Did you reboot the router? OMG

Re: RBE770 & RBE771 - satellite stops providing connection
Would you happen to have some device that can be connected to that satellite by Ethernet? (I have some Ethernet to USB adapters that I use to connect tablets, Chromebooks, [even a phone] for experiments. Under $15 on Amazon.)
If a device is physically connected to that satellite with a cable and works correctly, then it is pretty clear that the Attached Devices report is suspect.

Re: RBE770 & RBE771 - satellite stops providing connection
No devices connected via ethernet. That in fact is another issue I have with this 770 series. If I do connect any device to the satellite, then the router reports that satellite as wired, when it is not. Also reported a while back to support to no avail.
This feels like a beta product, and I know as I have been a beta-tester for Netgear for many years.

What indicates that devices are connected to the satellite when:
- the router web admin Attached Devices says the satellite is Disconnected, and
- the satellite web admin Connected Devices does not show any devices connected?

Re: RBE770 & RBE771 - satellite stops providing connection
a) 1 device was right next to the satellite and was working fine
b) when I unplugged the satellite that device immediately went flashing orange (offline)

Re: RBE770 & RBE771 - satellite stops providing connection
Oddly, while my problem has been reliably happening once per week, it of course is mostly behaving once support asked me to get debug logs…and they finally stopped asking me for floor plans of my house.

Also with 77x they removed the debug page and SSH access so really hard to get at what the problem is.

Re: RBE770 & RBE771 - satellite stops providing connection
My understanding is that the AX products have never included either telnet or ssh capability for users. (Connection to the terminal pins on the printed circuit board works, but that is "non-trivial" as it requires (a) opening the case, and (b) using a terminal to USB adapter - $11 on Amazon)
First mention of the 771 not including the debug page (http://orbilogin.net/debug.htm )

Re: RBE770 & RBE771 - satellite stops providing connection
I’m an IT guy, so I thoroughly described the problem. Unfortunately support wasted a lot of time asking irrelevant questions. It’s great that the WiFi radios are working right now, but nothing has changed, so there’s still something not quite right. The pricing is outrageous for a product that doesn’t work reliably. I can’t explain why the issue isn’t happening weekly all of the sudden, but I guess it’ll happen again sometime before long.

Re: RBE770 & RBE771 - satellite stops providing connection
Debug web page has not been removed.
BE systems have never had user access to Telnet or SSH.
Have you reached out to NG support and asked for a beta FW?
