GS305EP -is what I want to do possible?
I have a GS305EP (default config, trunk port 5) with 2 Yaeling POE phones attached (ports 1 and 4). VLAN 50 is set at the phones, and these packets are passed through, unchanged, to the router where the VLANs are handled. I want to hook up 2 POE cameras to ports 2 and 3, and assign them to VLAN 60. The packets will enter ports 2 and 3 untagged, so I need to add the VLAN 60 tag and send the packets out through the trunk. So, exiting the trunk port will be phone packets with VLAN 50 tags, and camera packets with VLAN 60 tags.
1) Most important question: Is this even possible with this Smart series managed switch?
2) If so, how. I've studied all the Netgear online help, user manuals etc. I've tried lots of things in the 802.1Q advanced section, with no luck. Usually, I lose phone connectivity.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Regards,
Dave

Re: GS305EP -is what I want to do possible?
Yes, definitively possible. Not different than on most other switches supporting VLANs with simple VLAN config logic. Just double and tripple check you have removed the default [U]tagged setting on the ports used as access ports.
Reminder: These Plus switches Web UI (and the legacy Netgear Switch Discovery Protocol used by some of the legcy utilities) can work only on untagged frames, hence the tiny uC does not understand tags.

Re: GS305EP -is what I want to do possible?
Hello DREato
And welcome to the NETGEAR Community! 🙂
Yes it should be possible. If I may ask, do you experience the same when cameras are not connected to the switch? If issue is present when camera is connected, you may also want to check if IGMP snooping is enabled and may also consider enabling IGMP snooping for VLAN on pages 62-64 from the link below. Try also managing the broadcast filerting from pages 25-26 from the same link below. But a packet capture through mirroring the trunk port may surely help.
