VLAN tagged/untagged processing - CONFUSED
Hi,
i have read KBs and some posting in this forum but I am confused on what happens on my network.
I have a GS308E and use VLAN 1 as my main network.
I also have a VLAN12 for HomeAutomation devices
Now I have one Ubiquity U6LR AP connected to port 2 of the switch. The port is configued as UNTAGGED and PVID1 (and I forgot to put VLAN12 as taggged for this port.
Now the AP has 2 SSIDs, one SSIDmain on network without VLAN and a second SSID12 on a network with VLAN 12 configured.
And all works as expected: any device connecting to SSID12 gets DHCP address from the DHPC server on my router for VLAN12.
But when I read the postings this should NOT have wprked as I forgot to tag port 2 with VLAN12 T??
So why does it work anyway??
CONFUSED....
thanks,
Raoul

Re: VLAN tagged/untagged processing - CONFUSED
Is the complete data path for the VLAN 12 configured accordingly tagged - from the router supporting multiple networks and IP subnetworks?
Make the VLAN 12 tagged on the AP IoT VLAN, tagged on the switch port connecting the AP, tagged on the switch port connecting to the uplink router?
Is the DHCP IP coming from the normal LAN IP subnet or from the dedicated and isolated IoT subnet?
Based on the minimal details described it's impossible to help.

Re: VLAN tagged/untagged processing - CONFUSED
Hi,
thanks for your prompt response.
I am sorry to report that this was my mistake. I had the wrong port in sight. The AP was connected to PORT4 which has VLAN12 tagged.
So all makes sense again, sorry for the confusion.
All ok for this one.
thanks,
Raoul
