4.1.8-T5 Transmission add-on doesn't work
I've upgraded to Mac OS X 10.7 Lion today and - correspondigly - upgraded my ReadyNAS Duo to the RAIDiator 4.1.8-T5 beta, that adds Lion AFP support.
File transfer works fine, but now the Transmission add-on doesn't work.
I've been using the 2.31 version of the add-on (newest but for the 2.32 beta2). After the reboot following the firmware upgrade Transmission didn't start. I tried starting it from FrontView and received the generic error "Transmission add-on failed to start".
I tried reinstalling it - removing went fine, but when I tried to install it again, I received the error "Update file is not valid for this architecture." - I am however sure, that I'm using the same .zip-file I used last time to upgrade Transmission to v2.31 - and even more sure the architecture of my ReadyNAS did not change overnight 😃
Same error for the 2.32 beta2 btw
Any thoughts on what I could do about it?
Is the 4.1.8 T5 beta screwing up the architecture detection, because the newer netatalk code has been ported from x86? o_O

Re: 4.1.8-T5 Transmission add-on doesn't work
Could you reboot the ReadyNAS then try installing the add-on again?
If that doesn't work try a firmware/OS re-install (http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/boot/how_do_i_re-install_the_firmware) then attempt to install the add-on again.

Re: 4.1.8-T5 Transmission add-on doesn't work
If it doesn't work there's three possibilities:
1. An issue with your system
2. A compatibility issue with the Transmission add-on and the beta firmware.
3. An issue with the beta firmware that needs to be addressed.
Do you have any other add-ons installed?
Do you have SSH access to your NAS?

Re: 4.1.8-T5 Transmission add-on doesn't work
I'm waiting for the firmware to reinstall. In the meantime:
I think p. 1 would be less likely than p. 2 or 3, because up to the upgrade to the beta everything seemed to work.
I have the PHP v1.3 and DynDNS v1.0 add-ons installed.
SSH is enabled on my NAS, but that is another thing that broke with Lion (Terminal throws error "'xterm-256color': unknown terminal type.", seems that the server - the NAS in this case - is missing an nurses package http://www.osterman.com/wordpress/2011/ ... minal-type)

Re: 4.1.8-T5 Transmission add-on doesn't work
same error after firmware reinstall
"Update file is not valid for this architecture."
guess I'll have to use the spare MacBook for my torrenting needs (Lion auto-corrects 'torrenting' into 'tormenting' %) ) for the time being.
Still hopeful there will be a fix...

well, first of all that would mean that we still don't know what's broke and how to fix it.
But still, thanks for your help. I'll wait for a fix from yoh-dah and/or super-poussin then...

Re: 4.1.8-T5 Transmission add-on doesn't work
Just had a look and I think there's a problem with the architecture checking of addin 4.1.8-T5. Of the add-ons I've looked at, add-ons without the "arch" option in the header work fine. Other add ons don't work.

Re: 4.1.8-T5 Transmission add-on doesn't work
You should still be able to install Transmission if you're willing to use SSH.
Try something like this (note that creating a directory with a unique name highly unlikely to be used by the add-on install.sh script and changing the working directory are essential steps):
I haven't tried this, but I did something similar to update ReadyNAS Remote to the latest version and ReadyNAS Remote is working for me.

mkdir /tmp/tran783
cd /tmp/tran783
wget http://www.readynas.com/contributed/super-poussin/Transmission_2.31.bin
tar xvf Transmission_2.31.bin
sh install.sh

Re: 4.1.8-T5 Transmission add-on doesn't work
Thanks for letting me know.
I thought it would work. super-poussin also rebuilt the latest beta of the Transmission add-on so it can install via Frontview on 4.1.8-T5. See http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=312862#p312862
