Hi
I've just noticed that my NAS has no app sport and after some googling and help from a facebook page of yours i got the answer to role back to 6.10.9 and i did after i'd tried 6.10.4. But i can't install transmission app it fails after a while when starting to downloading files but it gives me no reason at all.
Can someone please help me out here? And please i'm not an advanced user that even knows what SSL is. 🙂
If it's to hard i will change bran to a newer one that lets me use apps.

See Post 37 on this thread:
That is about as simple as we can make it. But it does require use of ssh. We can give you the commands needed to copy the files from a NAS share to the correct folder.

Note I don't work for Netgear or represent them in any way.
The operating system on your NAS is Linux Debian 8 (also called "Jesse"). Jessie was released in 2015, and the Debian community discontinued support for it in 2020. When they did that, they archived all the repostories for the libraries (moving them to a new location). These libraries are needed to install the apps.
The changes in the link I posted are telling the NAS to get the libraries from the archived locations.
While Netgear could have upgraded the NAS to run a newer version of Debian, that is a pretty big change and they chose not to do it. One aspect is that Netgear stopped making new ReadyNAS hardware back in 2017, and all ReadyNAS products are now end-of-life. So Netgear has exited their NAS business.
Netgear could have also have done patched the NAS to use the archived libraries in 6.10.10 instead of just removing the feature. They didn't explain that decision - but my guess it was because the archived libraries were no longer getting security updates.

One alternative is to just switch to installing transmission or something similar on an always-on PC.

Re: Ready NAS 102 app problem
Yes i kinda figured that out. 🙂
The thing is that i'm very bad at this he writes about and i really dont know where to start.
Is it much to do? Is it to much to ask for a guide? 🙂 I feel i must at least try when i got my hand on a person like you. 🙂
So Netgear don't have any NAS at all or have just decided to end old ones so people buy newer ones...

They are not selling any NAS.

A step-by-step depends on where you put the two files in his download. You want to put them in one of your NAS shares temporarily. Can you give us a share name where you can put them?

Re: Ready NAS 102 app problem
How sad that they have ended selling NASes.
As you can see now i'm not even with you when you say this about shares, 🙂
Is it a folder or something on my NAS?

Yes, that is the list of your shares. How does the title of that page translate into English? (I see "Shares" as the title on my page).
You need to begin by download the two files in post 37 of the discussion thread I linked to:
Then you need to copy them into one of those shares. I suggest using Backup.
You will also need to go into system->settings->services and enable ssh. Check the "enable password authentication" checkbox. There is no need to upload a key.
Do you use a Windows PC? If not, do you have a Mac? It'd be helpful to know that before giving you the other instructions.

No, those are not the files. You need to download the two dropbox links in the post
- https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/zoqxg8u1y0ztqjkfrvod7/sources.list?rlkey=5ouaymaz3ejn0ssc58ad8nfrk&dl...
Copy these files into the Backup share.
Since you are running Windows, you can connect with ssh by first installing a program called putty:
If your PC has a 64 bit processor, then download and install the 64-bit x86 MSI file.
If you have a 32 bit processor (or don't know), then download and install the 32-bit x86 MSI file
Then run the program. You'll see something like this:
Put the NAS name (or the IP address if you know it) into the bot at the top and then click "open" at the bottom. You might then get a windows dialog box asking you something about a fingerprint. Enter ok (or yes) at that point.
You should then see a black text box open on the screen.
Log in as root and enter the NAS admin password when prompted.
Let me know when you get to this step.

Did you remember to enable ssh as I said in post 9:

All this does is set up the NAS to access the archived Debian repositories (instead of trying to access them in a location that has been taken down by the Debian folks).

Yes. I didn't give you the rest of the steps.
Now enter these commands:
cd /etc/apt
cp sources.list sources.list.orig
cp /data/Backup/apt.conf .
cp /data/Backup/sources.list .
apt-get update
Note that the bottom two cp commands end in a period - don't leave that out.
If you see any errors, stop at that point and post a screenshot.

The problem is that when i write my poassword the cursor doesn't move or entering anything at all so it says the password is invalid and the window is closed. Should i use port 22 as it says?

yes.

But you are able to enter root before then?
Are you using the default admin password (which is password)? If you are, then try changing that using the NAS web ui.
