Built in Antivirus 6.6.1

Hello,

I can't for the life of me find where to configure this new antivirus... Any suggestions? I searched "antivirus" here and sorted by date, but I can't believe nobody's been asking about this recently. Point me in the right direction, please?

Thanks!

Re: Built in Antivirus 6.6.1

You can enable/disable the service under System > Settings > Services. The AV Plus app is incompatible with 6.6.1 and if you had that installed it would have automatically been uninstalled.

Re: Built in Antivirus 6.6.1

So, there's no way to configure the way the antivirus behaves? Are there any plans to provide this functionality?

It wasn't much before, but at least it was something... I had no idea this was going away from reading the release notes. I may not have been so hasty to update had I known.

Re: Built in Antivirus 6.6.1

I am also having issues with the new antivirus app due to not being able to modify its behavior. When are we going to get some control back of this app? These virus threats have only just appeared on files that havent changed. also.

"Antivirus scanner found a threat (Heuristics.Broken.Executable) in the file /tmp/clamav-df9690a621089e71500d4b517f04a5f7.tmp/content.019 (deleted). Please delete the infected file soon if automatic delete setting is not enabled."   where is the /tmp refered to here and if its deleted how do i delete it?

Re: Built in Antivirus 6.6.1

Can people from Netgear explain me a dummy how it is working?

Delete options, its behaviour when the unit restart and does it restart the check from the begining?

A bit lost in space I am too!!

This is a great point. I am getting tons of tmp alerts as well.

Re: Built in Antivirus 6.6.1

Actually upon further inspection, I'm getting several of the same exact warning for the same file. I've gotten over 120 emails for 5-10 different files today. Most of them the temp files I don't have access to.

Re: Built in Antivirus 6.6.1

Sorry, I was posting from my phone and didn't see your reply. You've hit it right on the head, that's exactly what I'm experiencing. This release seems to be rather horribly handled. The release notes mentioned a new AV, and I assumed (yeah, I know) that it'd be an upgrade... It didn't mention there was no control panel.

It also highlights my inability to effectively use this new(ish) forum. I had searched and not found that thread. It used to be I could log on, go to a single place and see what was new... Now it's such a hassle, I find I rarely visit any longer. Another thing that would help... tapatalk compatibility. But I digress.

Thanks Stephen!

Re: Built in Antivirus 6.6.1

The /tmp/ file reported is not intended. We are working on a fix in a coming firmware.

There is a possible work around for the users that are interested in going into the ssh/cli.

Once you are logged in you can run the following commands:

echo 'OnAccessExcludePath /tmp' >> /etc/clamav/clamd.conf
systemctl restart clamav-daemon.service

This should help quiet down the alerts/emails that are getting generated from the /tmp directory.

Re: Built in Antivirus 6.6.1

Antivirus scanner found a threat (Unix.Trojan.Mirai-5607459-1) in the file /bin/busybox. Please delete the infected file soon if automatic delete setting is not enabled.

I don't have access to /bin and the Antivirus App does not have any management capabilities other than Start and Stop.  Am I safe?  Diid the file get cleaned up and where did such a file come from?  I didn't put it there.

Re: Built in Antivirus 6.6.1

The ReadyNAS OS V6.6.1 Release Notes mention nothing about the AV Plus app being incompatible.

The only app issues referred to via a link are for the 6.6.0 Firmware update relating to ReadyNAS Surveillance and ReadyNAS Photos II.

(ref: https://community.netgear.com/t5/Current-NETGEAR-and-Partners/NETGEAR-app-compatibility-with-ReadyNA...)

This is incredibly annoying as I have wasted manhours trying to resolve due to your lack of information.

I am becoming more and more mystified why I have stuck with Netgear. I think now you are just screwing with us.

Re: Built in Antivirus 6.6.1

PLEASE NETGEAR ADMINS and NERDS consider us as dummies and when you release some new features it would be good to have a pdf or video for a bit of explaining and how the stuff behave!

I stay polite but many of of are angry still willing to promote and purchase the brand BUT can easily change his mind and buy elsewhere!

A bit of coms to let us know how the issue is handled internally and keep us in the loop!!!

Re: Built in Antivirus 6.6.1

I am totally agree with you

Honestly i was thinked Netgear is a serious company but with evry single day it past i keep notice is not like that.

The lack of response ... the lack of suport is incredible. Prices from suport is so high ... Incredible high

I was used antivirus plus and now is no more. Not to mention 80% of the apps does not work at all

The Netgear response time and the time to solve the issues is really low low!

Re: Built in Antivirus 6.6.1

The beta firmware update will be released when that's ready. We're not going to rush ourselves into releasing something that's not ready for external testing.

Thanks for your continued patience.

Re: Built in Antivirus 6.6.1

OK thanks.

A bit of communication regarding the solution of that issue would be appriciated.

We are more and more alone with our problems!
