problems with EnableRootSSH (ARM) on Raidator 5.3.3

ReadyNAS DUO V2

1. Downloaded http://www.readynas.com/download/addons/arm/5.3/EnableRootSSH_1.0-arm.bin
2. Tried to install, said it was partially completed, would you like to restart? yes
3. I get an alert saying "http://www.readynas.com/download/addons/arm/5.3/EnableRootSSH_1.0-arm.bin"
4. Tried 'ssh root@192.168.0.188', connection refused.

restarted, power cycled, redownloaded addon. it makes no different.

other addons i have: readynas remote iphone, and the photo addon

please help.

Can you download your logs (On the Dashboard, click Configure, then select Health > Logs > Download Logs) and extract the contents of the zip file. In boot_info.log what does the ssh line look like?

Is it

ssh: 0

Or do you see a large number instead of the zero?

Re: problems with EnableRootSSH (ARM) on Raidator 5.3.3

The boot_info.log file is empty (!). Tried to redownload, and still empty.

The error I get in step 3 above (miswritten due to sleepiness) is "SSH access failed to be enabled due to an unknown error.". This is also in the system.old log file.

Would suggest you open a tech support case (http://www.readynas.com/support). Edit the thread title (i.e. subject of first post in the thread) to include your case number.

Re: problems with EnableRootSSH (ARM) on Raidator 5.3.3

you shoule be able to get something like this on the logs

Fri Mar 9 20:29:00 PST 2012
Successfully enabled root SSH access. The root password is now the same as your admin password.

Can you try to download the rootSSH addon on another computer? I think it might be just corrupted.

If not please open a ticket with support.
