IP Addressing

I have been attempting to get a new IP address, but have been unsuccessful so far. I am a novice, I spoke to Cox and they suggested I unplug my router for a series of hours up to a full 24. I did the fully 24 and still have the same IP. Is there a way to so do that I am not aware of?

Thank you

Re: IP Addressing

You can try changing the router's MAC address.  This works for some but not all ISPs.

Re: IP Addressing

Thank you TheEther. I know how to get into the router settings, but can you explain how I actually attempt to change the MAC?

Re: IP Addressing

You will find it in the Internet settings on the router.  The setting is called Router MAC Address.
