N750 WNDR4000 big issue
Hi all,
I'm french but I'll write in english, so excuse me if my english is not so good.
I had an issue with my router, it was only delivering APIPA on LAN and cannot register to my internet router (WAN IP 0.0.0.0)
I thought it might be because of the firmware or whatever, I upgraded it
--> not better
I tried to instal DD-DWRT (from that thread : https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Netgear_WNDR4000)
--> Same
So I wanted to come back to stock with Netgear Firmware : didn't work
So I tried the part "Reverting to stock", but cannot access the router through the lan, and no wifi anymore
Now, the power led blinks (green), no IP from then lan (APIPA), no wifi
Tried to fix my IP but cannot ping 192.168.1.1 (also tried 192.168.0.1)
I tried the 30/30/30 but didn't work better.
I'm stucked...
Is there any possibilities to connect to my router and put the original firmware ?
Through USB maybe, or maybe another way inside the router....
I don't know.
thank you all for your help

Re: N750 WNDR4000 big issue
Welcome to NETGEAR Community!
Try using TFTP in reverting the Netgear firmware.

I cannot ping the gateway.
I cannot connect throufht tftp.
it's weird, I think the router is dead 😞

If TFTP still fails, most likely the router is dead.

TFTP isn't the easiest thing to get right.
This doesn't offer much in the way of clues.

We don't know what you did to get there.
If a standard factory reset fails, there is more severe, recovery reset, that you could try:
- Press reset for 30 seconds
- Keep pressing reset while removing power
- Keep pressing reset for another 30 seconds while apply power
If you are forced to use TFTP try a web search for videos that guide you through the process.
For example:
Different device, but the approach is the same.

Re: N750 WNDR4000 big issue
Thank you for the tips but I already knows how to use tftp.
I'm a Sys & Network admin so I uses tftp and routers through my job
The issue was the router cannot get an IP from my internet router, who delivers correct IP to others equipments.
And, without WAN, the Netgear router did not deliver correct IP, even with the DHCP correctly configured.
So I tried to upgrade the firmware : nothing better.
I tried to downgrade : same
I tried to put DD-DWRT : same
so I wanted to come back to the original firmware and power led started to blink
I already tried the 30/30/30 reset, and tftp doesn't work (server unreachable)
I think ther's nothing else to try, I thought it may exist another way to upload a firmware but I understood tftp was the last chance..
So, the router seems to be dead, I will see to buy another one 😉
thank you all for your help
