It could be that the router is degrading and it needs to be replaced.

Routers and wireless access points are supposed to keep the configuration over a power failure (of course). This includes access as well as WiFi SSID, WiFi PSK, ...
The Netgear "default" response (by Netgear as well as by other community members) might be taking notes on all device settings, restore to factory defaults, and re-configure from scratch.

You may save a copy of your configuration by doing back up and restore.
