IPv6 / DHCPv6 with S350 Smart Switches (GS324T / GS348T)

Wie @Renefw in diesem Thread gemeldet hat funktioniert die IPv6 Adressvergabe von z.B. FritzBox Routern nicht über S350 Smart Switches. Die Clients erhalten keine IPv6 Adresse und können somit keine IPv6 Seiten im Internet öffnen.

Ich hatte das gleiche Problem an meinem GS348T und konnte das Problem durch Deaktivieren der IGMP-Snooping-Konfiguration lösen.

Ich habe diverse IGMP-Snooping-Konfigurationen getestet aber alles ohne Erfolg.
Nur das Deaktivieren der IGMP-Snooping-Konfiguration hat letztendlich geholfen.

Configuring settings can have DHCPv6 packets forwarded

Enable IGMP snooping globally.
Enable IGMP snooping on the VLAN that DHCPv6 packets are forwarded.
Enable Multicast Router on the ports where DHCP server and clients are connected.

IGMP Snooping sollte und darf keine Probleme für die IPv6 Clients machen....

Habe leider kein einziges S350 Modell, und dann auch kein GS324T oder GS348T zum Test verfügbar.

Es sollte für Netgear (eigentlich) kein Problem sein, dieses Problem nachzuvollziehen. Wobei das die zwei einzigen Theads in den Netgear Communities sind - nicht aber das ich nicht glaube. Habe aber auch nicht allzu intensiv gesucht.

Vielleicht gibt es eine Möglichkeit, dass ich von Netgear Schweiz ein Leihgerät zu Test erhalten kann, frage nach den Osterfesttagen nach.

Edit: Gemäss Deinen Tags sind auch die kleineren GS308T und GS310TP wie auch der GS324TP betroffen - basiert das auf eigenen Tests?

Das kann ich leider nicht mit Bestimmtheit sagen. Ich weiß nur das es am GS324T und GS348T Probleme mit IPv6 und IGMP Snooping gibt. Ich habe die Switches hinzugefügt, da sie ja auch aus der S350er Serie sind. Aber vielleicht besteht das Problem bei diesen auch nicht.
Ich könnte noch versuchen es an einem GS308EPP nachzustellen. Dieser hat aber eine gänzlich andere Software.

@Renefw, vielleicht kannst du prüfen, ob dies auch dein Problem mit IPv6 DHCP löst, wenn das Thema bei Dir noch aktuell sein sollte.

Alle S350 Switches basieren auf RTL83xx Switch Cores, diese sind wohl ähnlich, aber bei weitem nicht identisch im Verhalten. Auch der integrierte Contoller kann unterschiedlich sein. Alleine aus den ähnlichen Versionsnummern der jeweiligen Firmware lassne sich nur wenige Rückschlüsse machen

i can confirm the IGMP Snooping problem with the GS324TP.  IPV6 packages like the router advertisement wont be transmitted successfully, so no ipv6 address creation possible (due to missing prefix).

Deactivating solved the problem immediately but it took me ages to find the root cause in the network switch....

I did not start it either as i wanted to add the answer here that the GS324 is also affected. But if a ticket is required we can do so.

I have tested it and it works in my case for internal LAN and external WAN with IPv6 DHCP and forwarding of IPv6 packets.

Enable IGMP snooping globally.

Enable IGMP snooping on the VLAN that DHCPv6 packets are forwarded.

Enable Multicast Router on the ports where DHCP server and clients are connected (in my case all 52 including ISP WAN)

Check the MFDB Table for forwarding Interfaces and test IPv6 connectifity after fresh DHCP request:

Same issue here with a Netgear GS324T, SW 1.0.0.43
I have really looked everywhere why IPv6 did not work... and finally landed here.
Snooping is globally deactivated and this does not make it work, need to check if globally enabling it and globally enabling routing to all ports does make it better (because everyone should get Dual Stack).

Ok, a quick check later and it does not work.

I have done the changes as suggested by @koeber 

My network of Dual Stack clients is actually very flat, so only VLAN 1 needs to be enabled. MFDB Statistics only shows a "01:00:5e:7f:ff:fa" MAC, which is not one of my devices. I tried several configurations and changes, but seems like this switch does not work. How to solve that bug?

After trying for some time I got it working - which was nice.

Sadly the solution does not survive a reboot of the switch.

With that I guess there is nothing more to do than scrap the switch and look for another vendor?
