Can't delete old Vista Backups
Hi
I can't delete old vista backup files off the NAS, however i have full control over Windows 7 Backups.
the message i'm getting when i try and delete the files is:
You need permission to perform this action
You require permission from Unix User\root to make changes to this folder
So how do i give myself permission when i haven't set any accounts for the share? as it is setup for anyone on the network to be able to access their own backups (which are encrypted)
I'm rather unfamiliar with the system so if anyone can help me please let me know.
Cheers

Re: Can't delete old Vista Backups
One option is to access the share with http (assuming that is enabled in Frontview). The login for that would be http://NASNAME/shares
A second option is to go into frontview (https://NASNAME/admin) and reset the permissions on the share.
Click on "Shares" on the left menu, then select "Share Listing"
Click on the "CIFS icon next to the share name.
Scroll down to "Advanced CIFS Permission" and check the box next to "automatically set permissions on new files and folders"
Set the Group rights and Everyone Rights to "Ready/Write" for both new files and new folders.
Then click on "Apply" at the bottom right.
Click on the "Advanced Options" Tab on the upper right.
Set the Share Folder Name to nobody, and the Share Folder Group to nogroup.
Set Share folder group rights and everyone rights to read/write
Check the box next to "Set ownership and permission..."
The click on "Apply" at the bottom right.
The box next to "set ownership" will clear, and after a bit there should be a pop-up telling you it is finished.
Then try deleting the backup again.

Re: Can't delete old Vista Backups
Thanks, should have just looked at the admin control panel before posting, found the option right after! Thanks for the quick response! Glad this functionality was built into the device!
