Cannot remove disks for expansion
Hello,
I'm expanding my ReadyNAS NV from 1TB to 8TB. I have upgraded the firmware.
My problem is I cannot physically remove the disks because when I press the button (as stated in the user guide) the latch does not release. How do I get the latch to release so I can remove the disks?
Thanks

Re: Cannot remove disks for expansion
http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/hardware/how_can_i_release_a_stuck_disk_tray
What brand and model disks have you chosen
What version of RAIDiator are you running?
Also take a look at http://www.rnasguide.com/2011/06/22/why-you-might-want-to-factory-reset-a-sparc-readynas/
If you have the 4k block size or if you have 4k sector disks you will be better off backing up your data, upgrading to 4.1.7 or later then doing a factory reset.

Re: Cannot remove disks for expansion
Thank you. Using a paperclip in pin hole B and pushing down did the trick.
I've already upgraded to 4.1.8 and have done a factory reset. I was told to do another factory reset after installing the new disks, which I will do. I bought WD Caviar Green WD20EARX 2TB drives. They are on the list of approved hardware.
Thanks again!

Re: Cannot remove disks for expansion
You shouldn't need to do another factory reset with the new disks, if you've already done one on 4.1.7 or later I think, but it doesn't hurt and you should do it if possible. Much quicker than replacing the disks one by one with higher capacity ones.
