Compatible TVs
Sorry if this has already been answered but couldn't seem to find anything...
Does anyone know what TVs currently out there that will stream from my ReadyNas Ultra 4 Plus?
I've noticed most of them have Ethernet and some video support but ideally it would need to support DivX, etc...
I think the Sonys do it but just not sure if they support many formats. Ideally I'm after a 32" LED.
Any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks!

- JB19701AspirantYou can't go far wrong with Samsung (Smart TV range). They seem to update their firmware regularly & since I've got mine (PS64D8000) I've had no issues with compatibility. So far it's played every file I've tried. An easy (cheap) way to view video from your ReadyNAS is their Smart TV enabled Blue Ray players. I've bought a couple of these for different rooms so that I can play my video/downloaded film & TV shows on a non network ready TV.
 - devilsrearAspirantHi I have the panasonic GT30 - this connects to the Readynas duo without any problems. This handles avi, mpg, MKV! plus mp3's jpegs etc.
Works out the box with little or no effort.
One thing I did buy was a netgear 1 gig switch (£35) and I connect everything via that. I used to use the router my ISP provided but showing of the readynas was hit and miss.
Since buying the switch the readynas is available 100% of the time (both wired and wireless)
Any questions give me a shout - also stream to my samsung galaxy s2 via wireless from the readynas. - virgiliomiAspirantMost DLNA-compliant or compatible TVs won't have any problem accessing your media from your ReadyNAS. The issue you'll likely have is that the TV may not support the FORMAT that your music or video files are encoded in, and the ReadyNAS doesn't do any transcoding to other formats out-of-the-box. So make sure that whatever TV you are considering purchasing will support your music and/or video file formats. If not, either pick a new TV, look to a third-party product that supports transcoding to replace ReadyDLNA (and note that the ReadyNAS isn't the best solution for realtime transcoding of higher resolution video files), or re-encode all of your media to a format your TV supports.
 - devilsrearAspirantIf your considering a panasonic you need to be aware that they check for cinavia encryption (same as a ps3)

devilsrear - how do you manage to use the switch wirelessly? Do you use a wireless access point, eg. Internet-->Modem-->Switch (connected to ReadyNAS, etc)-->Wireless Access Point ?
My Panasonic LX-37D25B cannot find my ReadnNAS Duo. My Wi-Fi set up works really well, but not DNLA to the TV. The TV is connected wirelessly to a Panasonic TV from a Thomson 585v8 wireless router. There's a NETGEAR RangeMax Dual Band Wireless-N USB Adapter WNDA3100v2 plugged into the TV, and I have a Netgear WN3000RP Universal WiFi Range Extender to boost the signal. I have no problem watching iPlayer in high quality, but the Panny cannot find the ReadyNAS Duo. I've tried Twonky and it didn't make any difference.
Thanks! - devilsrearAspirantHi
Basically you need to buy a switch - ideally a netgear one. You need to connect everything via the switch, so:-
Thomson Router connects into switch
Tv connects to swtich
Readynas Duo connects to switch
I have the same router as you - its crap!! lol - still once you invest in a cheap switch then your tv will show the readynas 100% of the time (I ended up getting a 1 gig switch)
Also if you have an android device then this too will now see the readynas - so you can stream your music, photos, vids as well.
This is the one I am using

look around - i think i paid £20 for this and £35 for the 8 port
(well I've now got 2 of these plus the 8 port one)
Works REALLY WELL!! :)
Wirelessly - Until I got the switch between the nas and the network - my wireless devices (tablet/phones) could sometimes see the nas. It seems that prior to getting the switch in place, in order to see the readynas you had to a laptop or pc switched on - on the network - weird. Now though I can simply have the router, switch and nas on, then whatever i switch on tv (now wired), phone, tablet - they all pick them up (2 readynas now) 100% of the time. - StephenBGuru - Experienced User
This could be the problem. Many of these devices don't pass on broadcast traffic, which can block discovery of the DLNA server.Roel wrote: ...I have a Netgear WN3000RP Universal WiFi Range Extender to boost the signal... - Roel1ApprenticeThanks Devilsrear - the problem is that I cannot connect the TV directly to the switch, as it's connecting via a wireless adapter.
StephenB - Thanks for the advice. The router has now moved closer to the TV, so I've disconnected the range extender. I'll try it out and let you know how I got on.

Update - 10 April 2013
My TV can now see the ReadyNAS, linked wirelessly to a Technicolor 582Gn. However, the Panasonic has limited file type support, pretty much jpeg photos.
