Copied / new folders having read only access

I have set up my ready nas duo and have copied some folders to it. I have set up 2 user accounts. Me [user 1] can access all folders and open and save. user 2 cannot. user 2 can however create new folders and save to those. then, user 1 cannot save to those folders.

it seems that all new folders created are read only, and cannot be written to by the other user.

Any thoughts?

Forgot to say... we are both on macs and connected via (AFP)

What are the permissions on these folders? That is most likely the problem.
