Dead NVX, Shipped a Pro 4 Chassis
I have a dead NVX with 2 drives, appears that the power supply failed and the box will not even power on.
RMA sent me a Pro 4 bare chassis, (RNDP4000=100NAS).
Can I just move the disks into the new chassis and power up?
When I powered up the Pro4 the display shows no disks.

Re: Dead NVX, Shipped a Pro 4 Chassis
Very fortunate.
Yea you can do a straight migrate of the disks, however first use a spare disk to upgrade the firmware on the pro4 to the same or more recent firmware as is currently on the nvx disks.
Do a cold insert of all the disks into the same slots as they were in in the nvx, then power up.
You have a backup?

Re: Dead NVX, Shipped a Pro 4 Chassis
Yes. We have code to handle this smoothly.
You got a newer better model than what you had.
Did you power up the Pro 4 with no disks installed?
It's a good idea to put a scratch disk (must not be from your array) in the Pro 4 and update the firmware on it if it's not already as new as what was on the old unit, verify the firmware update was successful, power down, remove the scratch disk, then move your disks across (keep the order the same).
Edit: beaten
