Re: Deleting large file fails and crashes NAS

Looks like under Snapshots I have snapshots going back to 2015! Will get to deleting them and see how it does.

This is what I see via command line currently:

root@:~# df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/md127 3.7T 2.4T 1.3T 66% /data
/dev/md127 3.7T 2.4T 1.3T 66% /apps

Re: Deleting large file fails and crashes NAS

I assume deleting the snapshots won't delete any of my data?

Looks like I have already gained a TON of space back and I've only done 2 out of 7 folders snapshots:

root@:/# df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/md127 3.7T 1.4T 2.3T 38% /var/ftp/Backup
/dev/md127 3.7T 1.4T 2.3T 38% /var/ftp/Music
/dev/md127 3.7T 1.4T 2.3T 38% /var/ftp/DedicatedServer
/dev/md127 3.7T 1.4T 2.3T 38% /var/ftp/Documents
/dev/md127 3.7T 1.4T 2.3T 38% /var/ftp/Pictures
/dev/md127 3.7T 1.4T 2.3T 38% /var/ftp/readydrop
/dev/md127 3.7T 1.4T 2.3T 38% /var/ftp/Videos
/dev/md127 3.7T 1.4T 2.3T 38% /var/ftp/Work

Re: Deleting large file fails and crashes NAS

Looks like deleting the snapshots has fixed it, I can now copy to the NAS volumes again 🙂

Good.  I suggest running a balance next.

Normally they are shown in yellow.

That's only if quotas are enabled on the volume. Calculating the total space consumed by snapshots is done using quotas. I think this is done by summing up the space consumed by shares (excluding snapshots) and subtracting this from the total consumed space on the volume.

Good to know about the quotas.
