Help: Brand new ReadyNAS NV + v2, Disk/Channel 1 DEAD
Hello all -
Just got the ReadyNAS NV + v2 with 4 preinstalled 1TB each Seagate ST31000524AS disks, however, Disk 1 says its DEAD:
Disk 1 Seagate ST31000524AS 931 GB (0 °C, Write-cache On). Status: Dead
Disk 2 Seagate ST31000524AS 931 GB (37 °C, Write-cache On). Status: OK
Disk 3 Seagate ST31000524AS 931 GB (38 °C, Write-cache On). Status: OK
Disk 4 Seagate ST31000524AS 931 GB (36 °C, Write-cache On). Status: OK
The front of the NAS says the C: is unprotected.
On the RAIDar colsole for the Disk Status, the first Disk has a yellow dot that says:
Channel 1: Seaate ST31000524AS 931 GB, 0C/32F[Dead]".
The Volume Status also has a yellow dot that says:
Volume C: RAID Level X2, Not redundant. A dish failure will render this volume dead.; 201 MB (0%) of 2759 GB used.
I upgraded the firmware RAIDiator-arm-5.3.5, and still wasn't able to get it working.
I'm new here, but wanted to see if anyone can send me steps to see if I can troubleshoot this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Re: Help: Brand new ReadyNAS NV + v2, Disk/Channel 1 DEAD
The next step is to remove disk 1, and test it in a PC using Seatools. This will confirm if the drive has in fact failed.
Also, it would be wise to back up your data. (Raid is not a substitute for backup anyway, but it is particularly important to keep your backups current if your array is not redundant.
