Map network drive with IP address
I have set up a DynDNS address "xyz.dlinkddns.com" and I can access my NAS via a web browser and now I want to set up a mapped drive.
Using Windows i went into the map drive and entered "\\xyz.dlinkddns.com\" but it does not work. Trying to access a folder on the root with "\\xyz.dlinkddns.com\Media" does not work either.
Is this port related? Because when I am inside my LAN i can enter the local IP address with the format above.
I would like to solve this with a mapped drive or please tell me how to use ReadyNAS Remote because I dont understand the whole ReadyDROP and whatnot.
Notes:
The NAS has a static IP address
Ports forwarded are 80,443,20 and 21
Thanks

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserIt is port related (port is 445) More importantly, many (perhaps most) ISPs block that port, so even if you forward it you are likely to have problems.
I suggest FTP or FTPS to access your files remotely (FileZilla is a good client). - Intelli32Aspirant

I get a error message 550 Permission Denied when I am trying to create files in my website directory. I am logging in via FTP on port 21 and the website folder FTP settings in the NAS is Read/Write, still no luck.
FTP-SSL does not work to connect with. Do I have to use SFTP to create files? - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserSFTP does not work the the NAS, however FTPS will. It does require that the client use "explicit TLS", not implicit.
You can upload files to NAS via FTP. Set the default FTP access for the share to "read/write" in frontview, and set the FTP authentication mode to "user" in services.
