NAS not found on raidar after 6.4.0 firware update

Last night I logged in to check some files, I got a message that there was a new firware version. So I read the release notes and thought it would be a good idea to upgrad on my RN102.

So I clicked yes and the firmware was downloaded and installed. Then it asked if I wanted to reboot and clicked yes.

After that it all was a bit weird. Since then the system did not boot, a few seconds later I got a browser message that my NAS was not accesible anymore.....

So now a day later I check Raidar again and still not visible....this gave me some shiver thinking about all my data ;D.

Hopefully someone can help me? It's a NAS102 with two 2TB HDD in RAID1

Hi EWZ,

Have you tried manually rebooting your ReadyNAS device? If it gets stuck at the booting process, try to check if you can set the device in volume read-only mode in the boot menu (steps are found here). This mode will give you temporary access to your data and it'll give you a chance to download the device logs.

Let us know what happens.

Hello Brian,

Thank you for your reply. I did do the boot as you mentioned in volume read only.....but nothing happens. I started and my power led is on same goes for the 'ACT' light.

It does not show on raidar, neither did it get an IP from my router...

Do I have to re-install the OS via the boot menu?

Do you recall which firmware you updated from?

I'm sorry I cannot. I bought it in april 2014....? Maybe that helps?

Isn't this the problem discussed in http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/29961?utm_source=community&utm_medium=announcement&utm...? The article refers to ReadNAS104, but I suppose the same applies to ReadNAS102.

The article refers to the 100 series (102 and 104) and to the 2120.

Hi EWZ,

Try to set it in techsupport mode and check if the device will show up in the RAIDar utility. If it will not show up, I suggest that you perform USB Boot Recovery and hopefully it fixes your problem.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll first try the tech support mode. I that doesn't work I'll do an OS-reinstall.

USB boot recovery would be next, not the OS reinstall.
