NFS Slow - Rsync Fast?
I just got a 314 and am working on copying over ~3.5TB of data from my Ultra 4. Following the instructions found here I setup NFS on my two shares on the 314, created NFS backup jobs on the Ultra 4 and hit go. For whatever reason it was averaging about 4MB/s I did a few tests and I could read and write to both NAS boxes over an AFP share at upwards of 20MB/s over wifi. Out of curiosity I switched the backup jobs on the Ultra 4 to RSync instead of NFS and am now averaging 50MB/s
I'm happy to be copying data at a reasonable rate now but just thought I'd post this bit of experience since all the other posts I've found say to use NFS for the initial backup.

Re: NFS Slow - Rsync Fast?
NFS isn't as quick with the 314 as it was with older devices. So as you have found Rsync is a good way to go.

Re: NFS Slow - Rsync Fast?
Ah good to know, hopefully others looking to do a NAS upgrade will find this as well. I was really wondering if I messed something up with such slow transfer rates.

Re: NFS Slow - Rsync Fast?
I think it could be to do with CoW. It's certainly got something to do with BTRFS.
