Network connection drops out when transferring ~1 GB of file

I have a ReadyNAS Duo with 2 500GB disks connected to a Netgear DG834PN router which is also connected to a PC. This is all a wired connection so no wireless issues.

Until recently everything was working fine. However, when I try to transfer a large number of files to the NAS (~1GB worth), after a couple of minutes, I get the "Cannot copy ???? : The network name is no longer available". RAIDar then cannot see the NAS, nor can any other PCs which I attached to the NAS at the same time. Other PCs can still access the both wired and wirelessly so Im not sure the router is to blame.

The only way to access the NAS again is to push the buttons on the front, watch them flash as it turns off (ie, a 'correct' shutdown as far as I can see) and then turn it back on. Once this is done, everything can access the NAS again.

I have tried a reset with volume scan and no errors are detected.

The only thing I can think of that I have done recently is to rectify a problem with AppleMobileDeviceService.exe (which was stuck at 99% CPU). Online forums suggested a 'netsh winsock reset', which seems to have fixed that problem.

If anyone has any troublshooting ideas / solutions, they would be much appreciated!

Quick update, when I lose the network connection, the 'act' activity light flashes repeatedly. Not sure why but may be relevant!
