PSU damaged?
hi!
i was two weeks on vacation and had previously shut down the netgear readynas nv+. and now its impossible to start the device - nothing happen if i press the front button.
i think the psu is damaged?! or could it be something else?
fortunately i always had a usb harddrive as a backup at the readynas. now i would check the backup files from this usb harddrive, but i can not use this drive at mac?! Translated from german: "The inserted media could not be read by this computer." how can I read the backup data on the mac? on a windows computer it doesn't also work well (with parallels).

You may try to boot up the NAS without drives. Make sure you label the drives accordingly from which it was pulled out. If the NAS boots up without drives inside it, then it means that the chassis is fine.
Check if your NAS NV+ is a v1 or v2. Read this link: http://www.rnasguide.com/2012/01/09/how ... -or-nv-v2/
If ever you have an NV+ v1, check if the serial number of your NAS is within the affected range. Read this forum link: viewtopic.php?t=10259 - If its within the affected range, then contact Netgear Support: http://support.netgear.com/general/contact/#tab-call

The USB disk is probably formatted as EXT3. There are ways to read EXT3 disks on macs and PCs. It's probably easier with a PC.

- i have pulled out all drives, but the NAS doesn't boots up.
- i have the NV+ V1 and i'm outside the affected range.
well, do you think the PSU is damaged? it is probably very difficult to buy a new PSU, because of the availability.
I had also tried to remove the PSU (like here: http://www.ripcaster.co.uk/files/Replacing_the_ReadyNAS_PSU.PDF) but it was impossible to separate the base plate (with the PSU) from the chassis.

The warranty is up to 5 years (it depends when you purchased I think). I purchased in May 2010, and (luckily) the PSU failed in February 2015, so It was still under warranty. I suggest contacting support, and confirming the warranty status.
The NAS won't fully boot with no disks. Are you seeing power (a lit LCD panel or leds?)
Those instructions are correct btw - I used them to replace mine. You do have to be careful to identify/remove the correct screws. The official link is http://www.readynas.com/download/docume ... %20PSU.pdf

i have forgot to remove the warranty sticker and the screw under it. and now i was able to remove the base plate and the PSU.
i have an old atx psu from a WIN PC. it is possible to start the NAS temporarily with this ATX-PSU? It has the 20pin connector and other serveral connector. and 420W..

it's almost impossible to get a new or used power supply here in germany 😕
well i can buy a used NAS NV+ RND4450 and i will remove the PSU. this also works at the RND4000? are they the same PSU?

The same PSU is used.
You could if you prefer get a new ReadyNAS e.g. RN314 and contact support regarding an attempt to recover your data. If you go down this route it is important not to put the disks into the new NAS until prompted by support. You will also need somewhere for the data to be backed up to e.g. a USB disk.
