Pro4 Rsync Backup Job No Alert Email Message

I am running scheduled rsync backups to a remote location. A few days ago there was an issue on the remote network which caused the scheduled FrontView backup jobs to fail. The logs clearly list the backup failed because the Pro4 couldn't connect to the remote destination. However, I have not received any email notification of the backup failures despite having jobs set "on backup completion send errors only to the alert email address".

I have my alert email configured to use Gmail and can successfully send a test message. What would prevent the backup jobs from sending email notifications? Does anyone have suggestions on what else to check or configure to get email alerts working for my backup jobs?

Reviewing the msmtp log, I see the following error message where XXX is the same gmail user/account:

host=smtp.gmail.com tls=on auth=on user=XXX@gmail.com from=XXX@gmail.com recipients=XXX@gmail.com errormsg='TLS handshake failed: A record packet with illegal version was received.' exitcode=EX_PROTOCOL

Interestingly enough, I added another contact email address and it appears that the backup job emails are working again. I will continue to monitor and post again if the issue reappears.
