RN-104, Backup Gone Comatose

It took a long while, but my 2TB USB drive arrived this week. I started it up last Wednesday at 4 in the afternoon and it seems to have moved along pretty well, but, based on free space, it seems to be 'stuck' about 2/3 through. There seems to be a parallel folder structure created on my USB, but, due to the volumes, I haven't done any sort of thorough checking.

I looked at the backup log this morning, and it's also a mystery. The last few entries are -

Copy File Music/Adrian Boult_ London Philharmonic Orchestra/Bach_ Brandenburg Concertos #2, 4, 6/01 Bach_ Brandenburg Concerto #2 In F, BWV 1047 - 1. [Allegro].m4a
Copy File Music/Adrian Boult_ London Philharmonic Orchestra/Bach_ Brandenburg Concertos #2, 4, 6/01 Bach_ Brandenburg Concerto #2 In F, BWV 1047 - 1. [Allegro].mp3

----------------------------------------

Including the line of dashes!

Any thoughts of what I should undertake next would be most appreciated. Also, any advice about 'cleaning' up hidden directories and files before backing up.

thanks,
Paul

Hi Paulj504,

Seems that none from the community experiences a similar issue as you. Just want to verify as to what is the status of it? Is it still stuck or has it progressed since a few days ago?

Regards,

Re: RN-104, Backup Gone Comatose

Thanks for the reply - I was getting lonely!

Sadly, not.  I cancelled the comatose backup, restarted, and found the same behaviour again.  Suspiciously, it seemed to occur in both circumstances at just past the 1 TB point.

I'm now in the process of breaking the content into smaller 'chunks'.  It's a bit tedious.  Would I be better just using cp command from a terminal session?  Does the web based 'backup' add significant  functionality.

Rgds,

Paul

You can certainly just use cp if you have ssh enabled - at least for troubleshooting.  It might make it easier to see where it's getting stuck.

The web ui allows backup w/o ssh, provides backup schedules, etc.

Do you have "allow snapshot access" set in the share's snapshot settings?  If so, try disabling it.
