Radiator Sprc 4.1.8 Invalid chksum
Hi,
After a recent disk failure and subseqount replacement and rebuild of my RAID (4x1Tb) in my ReadyNas NV+, I noticed that Radiator was 'only' at level 4.1.7. So I decided to upgrade.
Weirdly the settings for Update were check & download automatically, but there wasno 4.1.8 version downloaded.
Running 'check remote' tells me that 4.1.8 is avalable and I can press start the upgrade, It fails after appr 3 mins with 'eeror connecting server'.
So I downloaded the Raidator 4.1.8 for the support site anf tried a lcal install instead. After a while, the Downloaded update is reported as vreified and the 'perform upgrade' button appears. Clicking that it almost immediately responds with 'checksum error in update' and aborts the update.
I've tried this several times, reboot-ed restarted in between, turned of automatic download turned on automatic download, but the reult i salways the same...
Error contacting server, or checksum error.
Please help 🙂
/Anders
PS Restarted the device (yesterday) letting the ReadyNas try to automatically download overnight, to no avail. DS

Re: Radiator Sprc 4.1.8 Invalid chksum
What is the filesize of the copy of 4.1.8 you downloaded (should be 56,692,224 bytes)?
What web browsers and versions have you tried?

Re: Radiator Sprc 4.1.8 Invalid chksum
The downloaded file is exactly the same size as you posted.
Firefox 9.0.1 (OpenSuse 12.1) is the only browser I've tried so far, what could the browser have to do with it? Is it corrrupting the file while uploading it to the NAS?
Thanks
/Anders

Not sure what the problem is.
Are you able to download your logs (Status > Logs > Download all logs)?
I would suggest that you open a tech support (http://www.readynas.com/support) case for assistance.

Re: Radiator Sprc 4.1.8 Invalid chksum
Ah, root (OS) partition is full. This explains the problem (no room for the firmware image download). Let support know this and hopefully a L3 tech can remote in and fix the problem.
Please post your case number (edit thread title i.e. subject of first post in the thread to include it).

Re: Radiator Sprc 4.1.8 Invalid chksum
OR ----
I could install the rootSSH add-on and free some space on/in the / partition 🙂
Did just that, Went to the System->Update tab in Radiator, checked for a new update (it downloaded) and now the NAS is now quietly displaying,
'Updating FW' on the LED display.
Actually ther e were 3 versions of 4.1.8 on /tmp one RAIDiator-4.1.8 (much smaller than the correct size) and 2 RAIDiator-4.1.8.?corale..... that both wrer of the same size. so uploading from local (or downloading from server) never replaced the damaged img, hence the incorrect checksum all the time.
Thanks for your help and pointing me in the right direction.

Would suggest you still contact NetGear tech support. If the OS partition gets as full as that some stuff could've got corrupt.
