Re-networking the nas...help!
Hi,
right here is the background of the situation....I have a NAS duo RND2000
I think there are 2x2tb disc drives in it.
Basically myself and my ex brought a nasbox. My ex left me, and i gained the nasbox, as it stores all my photos, films, music etc. I used to know how it worked to a certain degree...i could access it, and it was networked around the home, to phone, tv, laptops etc. But since using it last, I have moved house, and have new internet etc. Now i need to get it back online.
One main problem is it is all registered in my ex's name.....but i will probably know the password and things, but i need to know how to access it from my laptop so i can try and get it networked again.
Please be kind and treat me as a beginner to the 'NAS world', im alright on computers in general.

Re: Re-networking the nas...help!
Is it a duo v1 or v2?
http://www.rnasguide.com/2012/01/09/how ... -or-nv-v2/
Connect it to your router.
Connect the laptop to the router.
Install raidar on the laptop:
http://downloadcenter.netgear.com/other ... rchResults
Power it up.
Run raidar, you should then be able to access the admin pages.
To access shares you can browse on your computer to network places, the nas should appear there.
If you have forgotten the password you can do an OS reinstall using the boot menu and it will reset the password to netgear1 if it's a v1 or password if it's a v2. See the manual:
http://www.readynas.com/download/docume ... 6Dec11.pdf
That's the manual for the v1.
Try those things to start off, post back if you run into problems.
Also, try searching the internet and the forums - there is a lot of info and you will learn more by reading more.

Re: Re-networking the nas...help!
Default password for the v2 is "password", and the details of the OS reinstall are different. So begin by looking at the first link in vandermerwe's post and identifying your model. The labels on the unit are misleading, so read the link.
