ReadyNAS Duo V2 - Not booting, can ping however
Not sure what happened (I'm at work) but my wife said the ReadyNAS Duo "stopped working".
I RDPed home and I'm able to ping the system, it responds with a TTL of 64 but I cannot connect to it via web browser or SSH.
The LED's for power, HDD1 and HDD2 are solid and there are no other lights lit up.
I'm trying to come up with some troubleshooting steps for when I get home tonight and so far the only thing I've really seen is to perform a factory reset.
Having said that I saw some posts stating that a reset can take upwards of 24 hours... which seems absurd. Is it wiping the disks or is what I read incorrect?
Any pointers/tips would be appreciated.

Re: ReadyNAS Duo V2 - Not booting, can ping however
a reset brings everything back to the original factory install. You end up with a totally rebuilt raid array (empty) and the out-of-the-box configuration. Default admin password, no user accounts, no add-ons, default shares.
Before you do a reset, try running RAIDar, and see what status it reports.
I would also try an OS reinstall first, which preserves data and most settings. The admin password is reset (to "password" on a duo v2), and the IP configuration reverts to DHCP.
Before you do anything, review this guide, and confirm that you have a v2. The labels are misleading. http://www.rnasguide.com/2012/01/09/how ... -or-nv-v2/
Then review the boot menu in the appropriate hardware manual (google "nv+ hardware manual" site:readynas.com, and download the appropriate pdf for your NAS).

Re: ReadyNAS Duo V2 - Not booting, can ping however
Thanks StephenB for the tips. Obviously somethings will have to wait until I'm home and have physical access to the device.
I'm not quite sure what RAIDar is reporting:

I'm pretty sure I have the V2 but it's better to be safe than sorry and check when I get home.
To perform the OS reinstall the instructions are here:
http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/boot/how_do_i_use_the_boot_menu
After step 4 I'm assuming I can release the reset button to scroll through the various modes?
Worst case scenario is that it needs a reset. I'm assuming that I can just pull the drives out and mount them in a linux box to gain access?

OS Reinstall worked, much obliged.

Great.
BTW, generally I reference the hardware manuals for the boot menu, as I find they are a bit clearer.
