ReadyNAS NV+ Is freezing my Network
Ok,
I have a goofy problem.
I have an NV+ with 4qty 2TB drives installed. It's been working flawlessly for over 2 years.
I had some sort of power out at the house a few weeks ago, I woke up to all the clocks in the house blinking. I went to get online that morning and couldn't.
Traced it backwards, and nothing would connect until I disconnected the ReadyNAS. Once I did that, everything on the network came back alive.
PS, I also determined that I had a network switch go out AND a network board in a Mac Mini.
I got the network back up and running. I plugged in the NV+ and the network went out again. My Cisco Switch would light up every LED and give a slow blink on all the ports in sequence.
Unplug the NV+ and it all comes back up.
Odd.
I tested the cable, moved the NV to other parts of the house on other switches. Every time I connected it, it took the network out.
I called Netgear, they walked through a few things and because the network would lose connection whenever the NV was plugged in, they deduced that the network card in the NV was bad and likely shorting out the rest of the network.
So, they sent out a replacement NV+, I am still within my warranty period.
I got the new unit today, and before I pulled the drives, I connected the new NV+, powered it up, and guess what? The network went out again. EXACT SAME SYMPTOMS. Old unit, new unit. SAME EXACT ISSUE.
I did a full reset of all the routers and switches, hoping they would see the NV+, but nothing.
At this point, I don't know what to do.
Any thoughts?

Re: ReadyNAS NV+ Is freezing my Network
Try a direct connect to your PC and see what happens.

Yes, NIC is auto-sensing. No need for a cross-over cable.

Yes.

Re: ReadyNAS NV+ Is freezing my Network
Ok,
I did a direct connect, it booted and defaulted to 192.168.168.168
I then moved it back to an open connection elsewhere on my network.
It booted up, the network is fine and it switched it's ip address to 10.0.1.33
Everything else on my network was in the 192.168.XXX.XXX range
Now, everything is in the 10.0.1.xx range
Any ideas?

Re: ReadyNAS NV+ Is freezing my Network
So is your NAS configured as a DHCP server?

Re: ReadyNAS NV+ Is freezing my Network
msajecki, we would also advise that you contact Netgear support again and reference your case number. Please also post your case number on this thread so we can check on the status of the case as needed.

Re: ReadyNAS NV+ Is freezing my Network
How would I know if it's configured as a DHCP server?

Re: ReadyNAS NV+ Is freezing my Network
Do the directconnect again, and log into Frontview.

Select network interfaces, then DHCP.
