ReadyNAS NV2+ v2 Stuck on 'Booting... Installing Addon'

Hi,

I'm hoping somebody may be able to help me here. I was just on the Admin page for my NAS and it said there was an update available (an old update, from a while ago but I just never did it) so I applied it and it rebooted and said everything was installed correctly. However, I noticed that my share was now not available on any device (the admin page and content browser on the NAS worked fine) so I rebooted the NAS from within the Admin page just to see if it made a difference. Now it is stuck on 'Booting... Installing Addons' and its not getting any further. I can't access the Admin page or any data and RAIDar says that that the system is starting up. I really don't want to perform a factory reset to it as there is ~3TB of data on there that I don't fancy losing. 

Is there anything that I can do to fix this without losing data?

Any help would be most appreciated.

Edit:

I have performed an OS reinstall to see if that would help - it did not.

I don't use any addons on the device, the only ones that would be there would be any default ones.

Hi tonytheexplorer,

I would advise contacting NETGEAR support for this. They will advise you to boot the NAS in Tech Support mode so they can remotely access the NAS via SSH. 

Please note that if you are out of support warranty, you may have to purchase a support contract.

Hi,

I was about to do that but it is long since out of warranty and they don't offer online purchasing of contact extensions for my ReadyNAS so not sure if they would over the phone either.

Anyway, I've connected my 3 disks to a PC and recreated the RAID on there using a Linux live disk and I'm currently in the process of getting the data off it ready to factory reset it and start again.

If you are the original purchaser, you can buy a support contract.  You can ask about per-incident support - it might be cheaper.
