ReadyNas 2100 Doesn't Boot From Power Button

I have a few ReadyNas rackmount products, but only have this issue with one. It may have been happening all along, but I didn't turn it off regularly until recently. Now I will SSH into the box, and issue a poweroff command. It seems that if I then try to turn it on with the power button on the front panel, that it doesn't turn on. No lights, no fans spinning, nothing. If I pull it out of the rack, unplug it, wait a few seconds, replug it, it then turns on. This might not happening all the time, it seems to be less likely to happen if it's off for >24 hours before I try. That seems pretty anecdotal though, so take that for what it's worth.

Is issuing a poweroff command via the command line a problem? I was hoping to at some point make some scripts that hit all of my ReadyNas systems and powered them off with one command, instead of SSH'ing into each one, but if I can't turn them back on without unplugging them, that's a bit of a problem.

Thanks!

If you download your logs (Status > Logs > Download all logs), what does your bios_ver.log look like?

I assume where you're going with that is that it's an old version. I just updated the firmware version, but don't see how to update the BIOS. The firmware now shows as RAIDiator!!version=4.2.26,time=1389661799, but the BIOS is still 1.9.

I found another post that mentioned installing the BIOS update add-on, which I did, but it doesn't show up in the installed add-ons in Frontview. Are there instructions on installing a new BIOS version without the add-on? Thanks!

Re: ReadyNas 2100 Doesn't Boot From Power Button

Yes, there is a newer BIOS for your 2100v2 from mid-2011: http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=387035#p387035

Note the 2100v2 uses the same BIOS as the Ultra 4. However the 2100v1 uses a different BIOS.

Yeah, I followed those directions earlier to install that add-on, it looks like it works (it goes through the validation process, then I click Install, after a little time, I get a popup that says it installed), but then nothing is showing in the Add-Ons > Installed group.

Re: ReadyNas 2100 Doesn't Boot From Power Button

It's not meant to show in the Add-Ons > Installed group as it is just a BIOS update. There are no settings to change in the UI, no service to run on the NAS etc.

Download the logs again and see if the date in bios_ver.log is updated?

If not, reboot the NAS and check once more.

Ah, didn't realize that. Something isn't happening right though because it's still showing V1.9 in the bios_ver.log file. Are there instructions for doing this manually with a USB key? I know I've updated the BIOS on one of my other ReadyNas boxes and don't recall having such a hard time.

Thanks for the help!

Re: ReadyNas 2100 Doesn't Boot From Power Button

Did you reboot the NAS and download the logs again?

Actually updating the BIOS via the add-on is more reliable than via a USB key. However there are some safeguards to prevent updating the BIOS on the wrong system which in some cases can prevent it from being updated on a system it is meant for.

Yes, it's been rebooted several times, and I attempted to load the BIOS several times (each time it says successful). At one point, I rolled back to a prior version of Frontview thinking that might be the issue with the add-on not showing. Here's the data from the user log:
