Resolved - Missing Webroot Addons-Config

Can someone explain to me why my nas has suddenly started running really really slowly; navigating the menu is painful.

Also:

Can someone tell me why this message below continues to pop up on the screen in the menu, I'm wondering if it has anything to do with why the NAS is performing badly.

The paths for the shares listed below could not be found.
Typically, this occurs when the ReadyNAS is unable to access the data volume.
webroot addons-config [Wed Feb 9 19:43:50 WET 2011]

I have the standard items installed on my NAS, nothing extra!!

Re: NAS is SLOW and SOFTWARE ISSUES!

Sounds like you have a hard drive failure or a failing hard drive, contact technical support for further diagnostics.

Re: NAS is SLOW and SOFTWARE ISSUES!

Did you install some addons and then remove them?

You shouldn't have the webroot or addons-config shares mentioned to at all unless at some point you installed some of super-poussin's addons.

Hi MDGM

Yeah I updated a couple of addons a while back, but since then I've uninstalled them; they were all official netgear stuff though.

Whats super-poussin's ?

Re: NAS is SLOW and SOFTWARE ISSUES!

I think only super-poussin (a community add-on developer) uses those shares. It seems those shares must have been deleted but some of the config for them left behind.

You might want to give this add-on a try: http://www.readynas.com/download/addons/4.1/CreateMissingSharePaths_0.1.bin

That seemed to work... the nas seems to perform better too. Only thing I noticed though was that the two directories that have now come back, are now showing in the shared listing which they never did before; if i remember right.. they are listed by default as CIF enabled read/write with no user ..

A couple of things...

Can i now remove that addon?
Is it possible to hide these two shares, like they were originally? (ie hide them from the menu?)

Thanks for your efforts by the way.... Top man!

Re: NAS is SLOW and SOFTWARE ISSUES!

So after installing that addon your speeds are now back to normal?

Those shares normally show up in the Shares Listing the first reboot after installing an add-on that creates them.

It should be fine for you to delete those shares now if you don't want them. Be sure to wait for Frontview to alert you that the share has finished being deleted successfully before moving on to delete the next share.

That add-on I got you to install does it's work then removes itself.

Man your class, I've only been trying to sort this out for like...forever!!

Yes, my menu speed is performing around 50-60% faster than it was just prior to using that add-on that you just gave me; unbelievable!

Seriously man, just 12hrs ago I was saying to a friend what a nightmare this thing is and how painful it was just to navigate through the menu's; I don't know what that bug was doing it but everything was lagging big time, but its fine now... (for the moment lol)

Job done... Thank you very much!

Re: Resolved - Missing Webroot Addons-Config

What do you mean by your web root went missing? You can't see the share any more?
