Rsync as backup verification?
I am planning on transferring ~1TB of data from my NV+ to my new Pro. I am curious to know how to verify that the backup process has completed successfully?
I have learned from these forums that the backup process is:
1. On Pro, use NFS to perform initial copy.
2. Once initial copy is done, configure RSYNC backup job on the Pro.
My intent is to run rsync over several cycles until I feel confident of the copy.
My question for you gurus is whether you'd trust RSYNC as a data validation tool? Is it sufficient to see a successful backup job and know that all of the data has been copied correctly?

In my experience yes - though bear in mind the verification is only as good as the source (ie if the source is corrupt and you are not aware, rsync verification won't help).
