USB Drives GONE - RN314 6.0.8

OK, I went away on holiday two weeks ago . . .

so I gracefully powered down my RN314.

Came back two days ago and powered it up again. Everything looks fine. The two external USB drives I use for backups were connected and recognized.

BUT when I go into FrontView and try to browse them their directories show as empty. (I can see the dries from Windows 7 but the directories show as empty also.)

AND the backups scheduled to run fail because they cannot find the destination!

Bug, feature? Did I miss something in the manual?

TIA

How are the USB drives formatted?

They are Windows NTFS drives - before I connected them to the RN314 I did a "quick format" with them connected to my Win 7 box.

Did you eject them and reconnect them directly to your win 7 box? If it gives you a scan/fix prompt, maybe let it go ahead.

Re: USB Drives GONE - RN314 6.0.8

I'm also seeing this on 314 with NTFS formatted drives. We have 3 backup drives that we cycle, and 2 have had this happen, requiring a plug into a windows machine to "fix" them.

I'm gonna try another filesystem format and see how it goes.

Re: USB Drives GONE - RN314 6.0.8

Seems like I can't use exFAT for backup drives. I'm going to try FAT32 but this is very frustrating.

It seems like the index/address table for the filesystem gets corrupted, even with clean ejects from the NAS on NTFS, making the unit unable to mount the volume.
