Using BitDefender Antivirus on ReadyyNas - Possible and/ or Neccesarry?
Hi All,
In my company we use BitDefender Gravity Zone as our anitvirus and firewall solution.
I asked BitDefender if we could use Gravity Zone on our ReadyNas and they said yes as long as the unit is ICAP compliant.
So my fist question is whether a ReadyNas 312 is ICAP compliant?
Second question is whether having BitDefender running on our ReadyNas unit (it is a cloud deployment, no installed on the machine) is necessary? Is the antivirus and firewall on ReadyNas units robust?

I think ICAP only affects on-access scanning, not periodic. But from what I read on their site, using it under Debian 8 (which ReadyNASOS is currently based on) requires re-compiling the kernel. Not a good idea, even if you have the skills to do it.
