Valid WD REn 2TB drives for NV+ (v1) 4.1.15/X-RAID?
Hello all,
I have a ReadyNAS NV+ v1 running RAIDiator 4.1.15 in an X-RAID configuration with four WD RE2/3 1TB HDDs. I'm looking to upgrade it to 2TB HDDs, but I want to stick with WD RE2/3/4 HDDs with a 5 year warranty, as they have always performed well for me. However, the HCL doesn't currently list any of this HDDs. I would welcome suggestions as to which drives would meet my requirement and function well in this system.
Thank you!
Ira

Unfortunately the HCL for the NV+ hasn't been updated in quite a while.
WD RE drives should work fine, as long as they are <= 2 TB. Netgear reserves the right to deny support if you are using drives off the HCL, but I suspect you are out of warranty (or nearly so) anyway.
WD Red Pro (WD2001FFSX) or WD Red (WD20EFRX) would also work.

Re: Valid WD REn 2TB drives for NV+ (v1) 4.1.15/X-RAID?
Hello StephenB,
Thank you for the quick response. Yes, my NV+ is waaaaay out of warranty, but it is a workhorse, especially with 4.1.15. I looked into upgrading to a ReadyNAS 314 with four WD RED Pro 3TB HDDs, but that would run ~$1200 versus ~$500 for four WD RED Pro 2TB HDDs. I think I'll look for there 2TB on sale... 🙂
Thanks!
Ira
