Vestigial share deletion

In an attempt to learn about the ReadyNAS system somebody (probably me) connected an eSATA external drive.  They named the Volume “FRED” and then proceeded to create a share entitled “zzzz”.

And they removed the device and reformatted and tried other experiments.

At this time if any (USB or eSATA) device is connected the shares enumeration page in the GUI shows the mounted device and the vestigial share – “zzzz”.

I cannot determine how to eliminate the “zzzz” share from the system – it no longer exists in the real world but keeps popping up for any external drive attached.  It is causing confusion.

Any help in removing this vestigial share would be appreciated.

Re: Vestigial share deletion

This issue is a recognized problem with the rear panel USB and eSata connections.  Engineering has recognized the problem and the elimination of the vestigial share cannot occur without a system reset and it actually might come back in the future.

It is a recognized bug and may get attention in future release.

eSATA is about 75% faster than USB connection but the use of eSATA has associated dompatability and bug risks, expecially for users who use both USB and eSATA connections.

The advice from L3 support is to wait for a fix and do not use the eSATA port in the meantime.
