iSCSI on Win-7 Crashes Readynas

For testing purposes, I configured a 100GB LUN on my ReadyNAS NVX which is connected to LAN on 2 x 1Gb NIC's in TLB failover mode. I configured a Win 7 pc as the iSCSI initiator and made the connection to the target, initialised the disk and formatted it as NTFS. So far, so good.

When I try to copy a 10GB file from the C: drive of the PC to the new iSCSI drive it started ok but after about 5 seconds the PC locked up and the ReadyNAS froze, so I had to kill the power to the ReadyNAS and reboot.

Using RAIDiator 4.2.13, and the NAS also running CIFS for 2 x network shares in production.

If this because of issues with MS iSCSI initiator not supporting NIC teaming ?

Thanks in advance...

  • Compared to the latest build, 4.2.13 would be extremely outdated. Please update your ReadyNAS.
  • thanks for the reply ... but why does the first answer always have to be "update your firmware/drivers/software" ???
4.2.13 supports iSCSI - so why does it lock up the ReadyNAS ?

    Thanks again...
  • It's my first answer because the 4.2.13 build you're using is almost 2 years out of date and multiple changes have been made to the iSCSI support for compatibility since then.

Of course not every specific individual detail does not make it into the changelogs. However asking why iSCSI crashes when using a known build that has since had fixes, and then wondering why you're being told to upgrade seems a little odd doesn't it?
