DHCP pass through issue ex7500

Hi,
I’ve got a ex7500 extender
Everything works fine and after a couple of days devices connect to my ex7500 but don’t get dhcp address . I see them connected but with no ip.
Everything returns to normal after restarting the extender.
My Router is a Orbi rbr40 with latest firmware.
The extender also has latest firmware.

Re: DHCP pass through issue ex7500

What actual firmware is on the orbi and on the EX7500?

Did you setup the ex7500 using wps?

Is the ex7500 connected to a satellite or to the router?

What modem/gateway do you have?

How far from the router is the satellites and the ex7500?

Have you noticed the configuration of your orbi changing when this happens? (changing from daisy chain to a star configuration)

Re: DHCP pass through issue ex7500

Ex fw 1.0.0.72

Orbi fw 2.6.2.104

ex7500 manualy Connected directly to the orbi router (lan 10.0.0.1) (wan 192.168.1.134)

Providers modem in router mode - Upc compal (192.168.0.1) 400/40 mbps

orbi satellite 1st floor, orbi router 2 floor, ex7500 3 floor.

Daisy chain is disabled.

satalite and ex have a good link to the router.

the ceiling between the orbi and its satalite is concrete. The ex doesn't connect the satalite, it connects directly to the router.

same happens when the orbi satalite is switched off.
The ex works for a couple of days and devices stop getting dhcp.

when I take them downstairs they connect to the orbi and work fine.

after restarting the ex, devices start to work normally

---Does it work with daisy chain enabled? If the cement wall is between router and the satellite, it means the cement is also between the EX and the router. Cement is one of the best blockers of wifi.

same happens when the orbi satalite is switched off.

when I take them downstairs they connect to the orbi and work fine.---so, If the cement floor/wall isn't between them, there isn't any issues? Seems to indicate a poor signal with the cement in between and eventually dropping signal.

after restarting the ex, devices start to work normally

Re: DHCP pass through issue ex7500

I switched off the Orbi satellite (for testing).
Providers router switched to modem mode.
The ex has a stable link (on the debug page status shows green all time, speed 650 Mbps -704Mbps ).
Devices linked to the ex stop getting DHCP after a day or so.
The same devices linked to the router get IP immediately.
When I change to static IP, they work fine linked through the ex.
Download speed test show ca. 350 Mbps, so the link seams to be stable.
I go back to DHCP and when linked to the ex, stop working. No IP in ipconfig.
What’s wrong? Why does the ex blok the DHCP?
How can I check if it’s the discover/offer or request being blocked?

Re: DHCP pass through issue ex7500

try this.

put your gateway back in router mode and disable its wifi.

Then put the orbi in access point mode.

then connect the extender to it.

Maybe the gateway's passthrough/modem only mode is sketchy

Re: DHCP pass through issue ex7500

Everything worked fine until today (5 days)

today devices linked through the ex stoped communicating. After reconnecting they don't get it adreses, so I connected my handy to the orbi router, and logged remotely in to the ex webpage....The ex doesn't lose connection with the router.

it shows a very good connection and 867 mbs speed, but there's still now communication, even if I use a static IP.

I've restarted remotely the ex and devices linked to it started working normally.
don't know for how long.....
