Devices not joining Nighthawk X6 Tri-band WiFi Mesh Extender
Devices that need to joing the extender are default back to my xr500 and not connecting to the extender.
Can I force devices onto the extender?

Not really. The access points give "hints" to the clients on when they should switch, but it's ultimately up to the client devices to do the switch.
Some clients do have settings for how aggressive their roaming policy is, so you should look for those.
