NETGEAR EX8000 Nighthawk X6S
Hello, I am looking for some advise on what extender would be suitable for online gaming without drop in latency and bandwidth. I have a BT Smart hub a floor below and cannot get the lan connection up and the signal is very weak.
a) I am looking for an extender that would help me extend the range and provide similar bandwidth to the actual router?
b) How close should leave the extender to the wifi box to get the best result?
I have the Netgear AC200 right now but it doesn't do the job as it keeps dipping.I would really appreciate some advise. Thank you.

Re: NETGEAR EX8000 Nighthawk X6S
1. extenders by their very nature decrease speeds and increase latency
2. what extender do you currently have? AC200 isn't a model or a speed. Look on the label
3. Are you hardwiring the pc/gaming console into the extender? or using to connect to wireless? Key difference
If you currently have a half decent extender and you're hardwiring the gaming device into it, then a couple things to.
1. setup the extender using fastlane with the 5ghz set as the router---extender communication. This forces the extender to connect to the router over 5ghz. 2.4ghz is much slower and sensitive to interference.
2. then try buying a 50ft ethernet cord. Then move the extender around in different locations. a lot of things in ceilings/flooring can block wifi signal like hvac/plumbing, tile, etc. So sometimes a lateral move can help more than moving closer. So try different locations.
