Trouble connecting WiFi extender to devices

Hello - I did a factory reset and followed the set-up wizard. I hard wired my laptop to the extender and the set-up was successful -- I was able to disconnect the ethernet cable was able to use the _EXT network.

However, when I try to connect my iPhone oriPad - no luck. They both see the new _EXT network but when I try to connect and touch the new network name (like you'd connect to any WiFi network), it says, "no internet connection" and there's an exclamation point ontop of the WiFi icon.

Any suggestions?

Hello MitchP95

Are you using a form of WPA2 security?

Thanks, DarrenM. I just double checked using 192.168.1.1.) and yes, I'm using WPA2.

Hello Mitchp95

Are just you apple devices not working on the extender and all other devices work? Have you told the apple devices to forget the networks?

Re: Trouble connecting WiFi extender to devices

Hi DarrenM -

I tried forgetting the new router and reapplying to it with Apple devices, but didn't work. So I just did another factory reset on the router and set it up through the wizard on my laptop. I'm connected right now through the router _EXT typing this.

And as suggested, I tried to connect with another (non-Mac) laptop and no luck. When I hover over the wifi icon in the toolbar, it says, "Unidentified Network, No Internet Access." I'm reading this as the same problem with the Apple devices.

Hello MitchP95

Have you tried to add the mac address to the allow list of the router?

I have not! Can you point me to where I can read up on how to do that?

Re: Trouble connecting WiFi extender to devices

Ah, sorry. I'll send that in a few hours.

That said, does it matter that the Mac devices work perfectly well and auto-connect to the router?

Hello MitchP95

I found it on page 50 of the user manual I linked below you can add the mac address of the extender to the router.
