My Wifi extender will only work when it’s next to the router, when I try moving it to the area that needs a boost, the only lights that will come on are the power and wps button. i’ve done a factory reset on the extender itself but it didn’t do anything. when the extender is in the room with the router, i have to press the wps button on the extender and then on the router in order for all of the lights to come on and be connected to the internet. the minute i move it to another location, it doesn’t work...even when i press the wps button on the extender and on the router. i also can’t login to mywifiext.net no matter what i do.
The mywifiext.net does only work if the computer or mobile is connected to the extender wireless. The non-mesh extenders add these _EXT resp. _2GEXT and _5GEXT to the primary router network name. Following a factory reset, you find the default network name and security key printed on the extender product label.
Following a factory reset, it might be better to follow the alternate set-up method by connecting to the default extender network, and then use the mywifiext.net URL and run the set-up in a Web browser.
For better assistance, please provide at least some insight which extender model we're facing here.
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft? What is the distance between the router and extender? 30 feet is recommended in between them to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.
